Have an opportunity to buy what has been described as a pre 29 6 1/2" in as new condition but I need some quick schooling before I go look at it.
First, what's the last year a pre 29 was manufactured?
Next, would it have coke grips?
And what markings would be on a pre 29 and where would serial...
OK guys need your opinion (s). Have a 586 2. 1/2" in original box. In my opinion it's a 95% plus gun.
Just had a $3200 offer on it. Do I sell or do I keep? Don't need to sell but unfortunately due to health reasons, am losing my interest in collecting.
Thanks in advance for your advise!
John
I picked this up a few months ago and am thinking about getting it lettered.
Anybody ever hear of a 3" model 24 in nickel?
I've had several individuals who are knowledgeable in handguns look at this and everyone so far feels it has not been refinished.
I remember something about a way to search certain model guns that had sold previously on gunbroker.
Can someone "school me" on how to preform that task?
Thanks, John
Nickel 24 3"
I've only see photos of the gun, besides I'm enough of a novice that I'm not sure I would be able to detect a refinished gun. Would it have any distinctive marks anywhere on the gun if it's a factory finish?
Not sure what you would consider a "through the roof price" but it's...
LGS has a 24-3, 3 inch in nickel. Could this be factory? I know the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson's states 25 were made in nickel and engraved. Could one have slipped out in nickel without the engraving?
Thanks, in advance, for expert commentaries.

Looking for a box for a Model 41 and one for a Model 53 Mag Jet 6".
Let me know what you have and how much $ you need for them.
Thanks, in advance, John
Well I got it and was every bit as nice as he described!
Plus it's a 1962 four screw not the three screw model.
Good day to be a Smith & Wesson collector.
What's the value of a Model 53 in about 95% condition. It's a 6"; no box or paperwork; has two boxes of the original ammo and 6 inserts. As far as I can tell it's a 3 screw and original diamond grips.
Guy wants $900 but I'm thinking that's a little steep. BUT I'm not familiar enough with this to...
I seem to always have more questions than answers. That being said can someone advise me on what would be a fair price for a Model 17 4 screw six inch barreled revolver? The serial number dates it 1958. Everything appears original and it includes the box; paperwork; and cleaning accessories...
Just purchased a model 51 3 1/2" barreled 22 magnum. It is the harder to find round butt version. My question is does any one know how many of the round butt 51's were manufactured.
Regards John
A guy has a 19-2 4" round butt. He states it was a 1965 Navy Seals issue.
He's asking $1200 and quite frankly I don't have a clue what it is worth.
IF AND Only IF this is true what do you think it's worth?
Regards John
Also would Roy be able to validate it's authenticity if I had it lettered??
