Welcome to the world of deafness. And reloading. Oh, start scrounging for dies and the hardest of all, .222 bullets. One of our posters here has made up a die for .222 and then pays his grandson to push .223 bullets through it. He gave me some samples last year, and they seem to work just fine. Don't waste time and money trying to reform brass. Keep your eyes open at gun shows, virgin brass does show up from time to time. Also, watch the private tables for Jet ammo. Often boxes show up with half fired and half full. the brass is nearly as valuable.
If you approach it as a man on a mission, and visit anything calling itself as a gun show, you may do OK. There really is no reason to push pressures and velocities. You can get deaf just fine with reduced charges. Don't miss the opportunity to fire it at night. I'd suggest New Years Eve if you've got a safe direction. Just be aware that hearing protection is highly recommended. It puts the 44 mag to shame with the noise it makes. And depending on which powder, its capable of a ball of flame that makes you smile.
I read a story once about a guy that had just bought a Jet. He went fishing and decided to use it as a K22. He fired his 6 shots and then ejected the empties over the edge. All 6 inserts to Davey Jones Locker. My advice, either find a cylinder or just buy yourself a K22 if you need to shoot rim fire ammo.
And read all the Jet threads here. Even go back and search on them.
