I bought an Allen (brand) set today, but the 1/16" won't grab the set screw. It makes some contact, has a lot of slop, and when you apply torque it pops over to the next flat as if the points had been worn down. 5/64" is too big for the hole. My hope is that I can find a 'fatter' 1/16" - or a...

There's what looks like a small black set screw in the top of a Novak rear sight. 1) Is that screw used to adjust the sight somehow, or to affix it to the slide by being tightened? 2) Does it need to be removed prior to removing the rear sight from the slide? Thanks.

I like that one, too. The one I've been noodling has the ears up front (right over the rear sight dovetail). The aperture hangs over the rear of the slide 1/8th inch or so (for the longest possible sight radius) and is 'goalpost' lined rather than marked with a pair of dots.

Is there an aftermarket tinker who makes IDPA-legal things such as racking ears, longer radius sights, etc. for the 5906, etc.?

One other factor: the Novak sights provide a longer sight radius than the adjustable ones (easier to be accurate).

I got a 5906 from Precise Shooter (75th & Aurora, 206-489-4907) a few months back. He had at least one other then, and said he'd probably be ordering more. Didn't mention 5904s, though. If you talk to the owner (Soly, short for Solyanik), tell him DocNugent sent you.

Question about the rear sight on a 915 (standard, non-Novak, non-adjustable type sight): Is it solid steel, solid aluminum, or MIM ('powdered metal')? Thanks.

Is there a source for a longer (or already threaded) barrel to replace the stock barrel in a 5906?
