Thank you both for your replies, sorry I didn’t reply sooner. I checked the safety screw, it was tight and the safety isn’t loose. I also believe it may have something to do with the mag disconnect because sometimes when it doesn’t fire, if I drop the mag and click it back firmly, it may fire...
I have a newer performance center model 41 with two intermittent problems that may be related. 1) sometimes I pull the trigger and it doesn’t fire, I push the magazine in harder and it will fire. 2) sometimes I pull the trigger, hear the firing pin drop, but doesn’t fire and there is no mark on...
I wish I had taken a photo before I cleaned it. Apparently there is a vortex or redirection on gases that reflect from the screw hole. It marks the cylinder directly below the screw hole. Mine were concentrated circles with a dot in the middle. Perhaps it would cause pitting over time, but...
I agree it is not a huge problem on a stainless gun. My marks came off with a tiny dab of mother’s polish. It bothered me just enough to ask for a better screw. If it were on a blued gun, it would be a problem.
I have a 629-6 with this exact problem and just found this thread. I think eventually it would be pitting the cylinder. I emailed s&w, requested a new screw, they answered quickly saying they would be mailing it to me. Ask and you shall receive. This is the third time I have asked s&w for...
Got it back…
I got it back today, took about 5 weeks door to door, pretty fast, kudos to s&w. Judging from the invoice they went through it throughly, haven’t shot it yet, but it feels good. Put the Altamont rosewood grips on. See photos.
Just got a 8 3/8. I can’t speak to the double fire, but seems like a shooter’s issue. So far I’ve only loaded 400gr 2100+ foot pound loads. I’ll be working Barnes bullets to the max later. With the top holed compensator installed it didn’t have extreme muzzle flip but pushed back more into...
I’m going to send it for warranty. I own several s&w revolvers. This is the 3rd new one that never should have left the factory. A couple of others had sloppy polishing which I just lived with. It is great they have warranty, but it would be better if they would put in a teenie weenie bit...
They were once fired cases that I used to dry fire repeatedly to trouble shoot.
Yes you are right, the hand sticks out a little, I can see it with cylinder open with a tug on the trigger.
I guess I don’t want to mess with a brand new revolver, so I’ll send it in. What a pain. I don’t see...
I have a new 686 plus 2.5 inch. First time shooting it discovered it has extreme resistance right before SA hammer locks back. I dry fired these cases to trouble shoot it. The rims are nicked up which is probably the cause of the resistance. What should I do. I really don’t want to send it...
