    My favorite 38 Special load

Greg....That's a good standard load, I found that a light crimp is best. That's the load I used for years...The bullet I used was 148 gr. HBWC made by a guy named Gene Smith in NY state near West Point...A very fine bullet...the load equals match factory ammo..I still have six thousand bullets...

When did "action jobs" become popular?

Action Jobs The early S&W revolvers were so well made and hand fitted they didn't need action jobs..In the late 1960s it took hold with Police PPC matches..My first PPC revover was built by Ray Steel(Secret Service gun smith) that did a real fine action job..He kept the hammer fall heavy to...

    Model 41 sights

Smith 41 You cannot get the correct sight alinement or at least it's better if the sights are black..I'm long retired now but still shoot a few matches, and other shooters ask it they can use my carbide lamp. The sights stand out so much clearer when they're black...Most now use the dot sight...

    Model 41 sights

Smith 41 The S&W 41 is a fine target pistol, used one for years but to paint the sights would sure mess it up..We always used a carbide lamp to get the sights as black as possible..I like the white out-line sights on my carry pistol but not for target....

    S&W mod. 41

I would say a early production model with longer barrel that has not been drilled or taped..Smith started making them around 1960 and I believe better quality than the later ones and you would have some collector value.

The rifle with no respect. The Remington 81 (and model 8)

FBI issue When the P.D. I retired from sold all their 81s in 30R caliber around 1973 to Interarms I picked out a FBI issue(1942),tagged it and picked it up at Interarms. No rear sight on the barrel and had a receiver sight installed. The lettering had to be changed on the receiver so it was not...
