    65-5 show and tell

I had to increase the grip size due to my large hands. I’ll see how these work out.

First Range Visit With My S&W Model 19 Carry Comp Moss

You can order a longer FP that may solve your issue with hard foreign primers. I guess the new FP-less designed hammers aren't as reliable as the old hammer mounted FP. TK Custom sells them. Smith & Wesson Centerfire Revolver Extended Firing Pin Kit – Competition & Duty Grade | TK Custom If...

    BG2.0 recoil spring?

One thing I noticed when I bought a new BG II over a month ago was how far the recoil guide stuck out past the slide. The images of older BG's didn't seem to have that, but I never looked at one in person. I've never seen a recoil guide stick out of any gun this much and actually thought mine...

First Range Visit With My S&W Model 19 Carry Comp Moss

On one of Nelson Fords video's (The Gunsmith), he talks about removing the ball detent to make reloading easier/faster. I guess it's just a pin holding in the ball and can be banged out with a punch. But I don't know if he's doing it for competition shooters or people that carry? I bought my...

    My new 19-3 From 1970

Congrats. I found one a couple weeks ago that dates to 1973. One of the most iconic Smith's out there.

    ID this J frame

You're probably in the ballpark. I just bought a fairly recently produced one (probably 2014) in excellent condition for the that price. Although I did see an older one recently in the $350 price range, but couldn’t tell if the frame was cracked, so I passed. If it's one of the original...

    ID this J frame

Definitely an early 642 no lock. Has the FP retaining pin visible in the frame. New ones have them under the side plate. May be one of the originals before the brief discontinue due to finish issues.

.38 Special Ammo Velocity Comparisons: Historical vs. Modern

I have this old box of High Velocity marked .38 Spl. Unfortunately it just had brass spent cases in it when I got it. Here’s the warning on the back and the recommended guns it can be used in. But I’m sure many found there way into smaller frame guns.

.38 Special Ammo Velocity Comparisons: Historical vs. Modern

Super Vel is actually a company again and making ammo. Here's there 38 Special +P 90 gr. JHP "Super Snub". Not sure if it's any better than any other SD bullet available on the market now? 38 Special +P 90 gr. JHP "Super Snub" 38 Special +P 90 gr. JHP "Super Snub" "Super Snub" is specifically...

.38 Special Ammo Velocity Comparisons: Historical vs. Modern

Yeah, his info. always comes up when you search for this topic. Wasn't sure if he was still with us, I guess not. :( What actually motivated me to ask AI, was the constant debate about +P ammo in older small frame guns like Det. Spl., Cobra's, J frames, etc. It seems it was probably just done...

Its a .41 magnum kinda day

Congrats. I found this 1987 57-1 in a local shop for $900 a few months ago. Couldn't say no.

Model 60 No Dash, Pinned Barrel

Prices can really depend on location. A clean model 60 in my area (So. AZ) will go for around $550. With rougher versions around $450-$499. I pulled a fairly nice, blued Model 36 w/rubber grips out of a pawn shop last year for under $400, but that was just luck. I picked-up this clean 1983...

.38 Special Ammo Velocity Comparisons: Historical vs. Modern

Per Wikipedia, I guess so. Part of the .38/44 loads which lead to the .357 mag development. Developed in response to requests from law enforcement agencies for a handgun bullet that could penetrate auto bodies and body armor. The 38/44 high-speed cartridge came in three bullet weights: 158...
