    Mayhem in Manhattan

Several news reports mention that some components of the rifle were bought at gun shows. No details that I have seen. One mentioned a trigger. Time will tell.

    Marlin Lever 410

I believe they were distributed to Marlin preferred stockholders during the late 1920s-early 1930s. How many, I do not know.

    A Scarce Victory Variation

Technically, the L-L BSRs were on loan to the British, they were not crown property. As was enormous quantities of other types of L-L war materiel supplied to the allies, including Russia. BSRs purchased by the Commonwealth prior to L-L will have national property stamps. Distribution of L-L...

    Old time TV guns

For you oldsters, remember that Broderick Crawford in Highway Patrol could shoot a bad guy off a tall building from 100 yards away, shooting from the hip. I think he carried a Dick Special. Didn’t see the above before I posted.

    SIG P320 Discharges?

San Antonio Police Department announced today that it is suspending use of the SIG 320 after the Thursday USAF incident. https://www.military.com/daily-news/2025/07/25/airman-killed-m18-handgun-discharge-identified-21-year-old-kentucky-native.html Nothing stated about what will replace the 320...

Removing corroded batteries from a flashlight

I get most my batteries off eBay or at Dollar Tree, usually off brands. Don’t remember having any corrosion problems. Not long ago, I bought a 24-pack box of generic AAA alkaline batteries from eBay. They sent me two boxes. Should last me for a long time. I figure that all batteries probably...

    A Scarce Victory Variation

Most users would not know from visual observation what to look for to establish that a modification had been performed, aside from the addition of an S to the serial number. If in fact shipments of newly manufactured revolvers began at SV769000, it seems logical that any revolver having a SN...

Removing corroded batteries from a flashlight

No help. On several occasions I have tried immersion in hot water to dissolve the corrosion. That did not work. I just got new flashlights. One of mine ruined was a three cell Mag-Lite. I am not much of a flashlight snob. Cheap plastic ones do all the lighting I need done.

Look through this. But if there are no formal records of a private treaty sale between individuals, who’s to know that anything happened? https://www.thetaxadviser.com/issues/2019/nov/taxation-collectibles/

What does lettering a gun mean?

While possible, it would be extremely unusual if the letter indicated that the K-22 was shipped directly to your father by S&W. With rare exceptions, shipments from S&W were usually made only to various wholesalers, distributors, and retailers, also sometimes to local, state, and federal law...

    38 M&P Model 1905, 4th change. With unusual markings

The significance of Mark 2z or Mark IIz is that the z denotes the use of nitrocellulose granular powder propellant, sort of like Bullseye, etc. Lack of the z indicates Cordite was used. The cartridge is the same, only the propellant type is different. There were numerous types and varieties of...

    Refinishing purchase??

I can think of no circumstance under which I would send a gun off to someplace to have it refinished. To me it represents a total waste of good money with nothing to show for it beyond an improved cosmetic appearance with no commensurate increase in value or performance. On the other hand I...

    38 M&P Model 1905, 4th change. With unusual markings

Unfortunately, it is extremely unlikely that a letter will provide even the slightest clue regarding how the revolver found its way into Austrian police service or how it returned to the USA.

    38 M&P Model 1905, 4th change. With unusual markings

Prior to Lend Lease and the U.S. entry into the war, the British purchasing commission was buying up whatever guns they could find in the USA including dealer stock for their war effort. Simple enough to ream the chambers of .38 Special revolvers to accept the .380 military cartridge and put...

Tax Reporting Sanity Restored! - eBay, PayPal, GB, etc...

I did not know that. I have not been selling much on eBay recently because of the low reporting trigger limit, great news.
