Help Model 52 barrel bushing tightness?

Great answers everyone. Thanks. That slapping sound is me smacking my forehead. I forgot I downloaded an original Model 52 manual months ago when my search for this amazing gun started. It clearly says: on reassembly. "Replace barrel bushing and plate turning in to a firm fit aligning closest...

Help Model 52 barrel bushing tightness?

I am thrilled to say I have finally found a Model 52-2 in minty condition. Absolutely love the gun after having it to the range two times. I did a full strip and cleaning today for the first time...but I am at a loss as to how tight to make the barrel bushing on reassembly. Finger tight while...

Removing Bo-mar rib from Model 52?

Thanks everyone for the great input. Especially jag22's comment about how the bo-mar rib may make the gun less attractive as a resale. A caution I will take seriously. And thanks for the great link to BME-mounts provided by Rowlf. That site provides several good options that I didn't know...

Removing Bo-mar rib from Model 52?

Yeah, if I get the gun I am almost convinced to leave it alone. After all, someone went to a lot of trouble to get the sight put on. Into it heavy? If you mean shooting sports...yup. No formal target league, but I reload and shoot many types of handguns and rifles. The collection includes a...

Removing Bo-mar rib from Model 52?

Another question: If there is anyone reading this who has shot a gun with the extended Bo-mar front sight can you tell me if the extra sight radius is a definite advantage. I am just wondering if I should leave it on the gun? Thoughts? Easy

Removing Bo-mar rib from Model 52?

Thanks Rowlf. I had a bad feeling the front sight was integral with the slide and may have been machined to install the Bo-mar. If I get the gun I may have to do as you suggest. I have a surplus Red Dot I could use if I can source a rail, or a regular Bo-mar may be the ticket if I can find one...

Removing Bo-mar rib from Model 52?

I have a chance of buying a Model 52 with an extended Bo-mar rib. The one where the front site extends well beyond the muzzle. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to remove the rib and replace it with an original looking front sight and an original or after-market adjustable rear sight...

Need longer barrel for a 19-3

Hello everyone... A retired police officer friend of mine has recently acquired a minty 19-3 with a four inch barrel. He loves the gun and wants to eventually be able to pass it on to his son. However, we live in Canada with bizarre gun laws. A four inch revolver produced after 1946 is...

PC Model 41 grips for a standard model?

Update Mine has turned out to be an amazing shooter as well. See the target below. 25 yards from a sandbag rest to see just how good the gun can be. Now shooting anything less than that, and I am going to have to take the blame. As far as grips, I have given up on getting PC factory...

    Hen's teeth, A.K.A. PC Model 41

Real nice looking pair Tom. I had to make a hard decision between the two when buying my first 41. Went with the Standard model and am very happy with the choice. Since I didn't want to put optics on I didn't need the rail and that helped with the decision. I also faced a three to six month...

Year of manufacture. - new Model 41?

Range report I finally got my new Model 41 to the range today and I am very pleased. I was a little nervous after two recent experiences with a Ruger rifle and handgun. Both new Rugers needed considerable tinkering over several months to bring them to the point where I am now happy with them...

PC Model 41 grips for a standard model?

I wuz wrong! I have no problem admitting it when I am totally and completely wrong. But I am a little disappointed in the reason. If you go online to the S&W web site and look at the grips on the picture of the Performance Center M41 I am sure you will agree those are solid wood grips...

PC Model 41 grips for a standard model?

The same thought crossed my mind as some KSD grips look identical to the factory grips. Very nice workmanship. However there is no harm in asking. I will let members know if there is anything positive to report.
