PC Model 41 grips for a standard model?

I wuz wrong!

I have no problem admitting it when I am totally and completely wrong.

But I am a little disappointed in the reason. If you go online to the S&W web site and look at the grips on the picture of the Performance Center M41 I am sure you will agree those are solid wood grips.

That picture is what I based my opinion on. However, every picture I have seen of production PC M41s, the grips have been clearly laminate. Personally, I like both versions of the grip...no problem there. But I hope you can see the origin of my confusion.

BTW! I had the gun to the range for this first time today...and it is everything I had hoped for. Extremely accurate, the feel of quality I expect from S&W and absolutely no malfunctions using CCI Standard Velocity as suggested here.

Definitely going to have this one a very, very long time.

Positive. I have a 2014 production 41 PC. Hard to tell from side view but if you look from the rear the multiple plies are clearly visible. No complaints, I like the grips and the gun is a tackdriver and utra reliable to boot.

I agree, they look like solid wood grips in the photos. I got mine and discovered they were laminate but didn't really care, they look great and the gun is a real shooter. Sounds like you had the same experience.

Update

Mine has turned out to be an amazing shooter as well. See the target below. 25 yards from a sandbag rest to see just how good the gun can be. Now shooting anything less than that, and I am going to have to take the blame.

As far as grips, I have given up on getting PC factory grips. I went with Houge cocobolo...and they have turned out greater than my expectations. Hogue will let you hand pick grips from their stock for a small fee. Worth every cent for the extra service.

The grips made for the PC model do appear to be laminated, but remain good looking (IMHO), and lamination has been proven to add to stability in wood grips in terms of less warpage or changes from age and humidity. Here are some close ups of the PC grips.

If someone is really interested in getting a seriously good fitting pair of grips, they should check out Rink, which are custom made to fit your hand in Germany. You send them an outline of your hand along with certain measurements and about a month later, you will receive some of the best fitting grips you have ever experienced. A little pricey, but not outlandish, considering the custom making. Mine ran $250 US.

EDIT: Corrected price, quoted Euro's, currently showing US dollars.
