    442 or 442 Pro?

All j frames are nice! Enjoy whatever you get.

    442 or 442 Pro?

I have both. The 442 Pro Moon Clip is now a carbon steel cylinder just like the 442. Regardless, both are nice. I don’t use the moon clips ever in a CCW role. I use without and have a speedloader (many brands work, won’t get into that). As for the 638, I’ve got one also, but the pure centennial...

    New 642-2

So picked up a new in the box 642-2 today. Production is 6/17. I know the dreaded lock, but plan is for this as a spare to a couple of 442 pro moon clips...and it was dirt cheap, so couldn’t pass it up. Anyway...noticed at the shop it was a bit stiff. Really tight, which isn’t the worst thing...

    Any J frame shooting tips?

The 442 is awesome. Snap Caps and range time when you can get there will help. An all steel J for practice really helps too. Enjoy.

    My 642-1 Came In Today!

Nice purchase. Enjoy. Will carry easier than you think. I like my 442 in a pocket more than my LCP...actual loaded weight difference between the two is negligible day to day. And the J frame shape is made for carry!

    Ordered a 640 Pro Today

    That’s a handsome grip! ( I mean stocks :D )

    Ordered a 640 Pro Today

Well after much deliberation, I ordered a 640 Pro today. It’s actually at my dealer, just need to pick it up. I did see some LE trade 640s for 399$ locally, but considering the new Pro was only a couple hundred more here, it seemed to be a good choice. Any comments on the 640 Pro? I like the...

    New 442 Pro Series

With or without :-) You need one!

    New 442 Pro Series

Very true. For pocket carry (or any carry of a J frame really), I prefer the trigger as is. It's a fine revolver as designed, no question!

    New 442 Pro Series

I think it's a little of both. Though I will say, of the two 442 moon clips I have, this trigger is the most "average"...but I like the gun nonetheless. To confuse things even more, I have a recent production 642 no lock that has a trigger out of the box which rivals my LCR. I guess it just...

    New 442 Pro Series

Picked up a new 442 Pro today. It's the moon clip model, but now nicely branded "Pro Series". Trigger is what it is...still feels like a 442/642...maybe a bit better than the regular no lock. Regardless, shot it tonight and all is well so far! :D

    Uncle Mike's Boot Grips

+1 on the Hogue Bantams. They're wonderful on the j-frame. Leave it to former LAPD guys to design nice grips/stocks (Guy Hogue) and pocket holsters for wheel guns (Robert Mika's pocket holster is awesome). Anyway, yes, the Bantams work!

New S&W 642 Black Friday sale

Nice deal. I just picked up a 638 for 329$ today and with the Smith rebate, it was a price I couldn't pass up. Like my 642 and 442 a bit better, but figured an ugly duckling 638 needs love too!:D

    M&P 340 v. 340PD

Update: ordered the M&P 340 No Lock, mainly owing to the front sight and stainless cylinder. I also held a 340PD today, and while a bit lighter, it wasn't 150$ lighter...so, stay tuned. I will probably second guess myself, but we shall see. Should be picking up this week... :D

    M&P 340 v. 340PD

As point of reference, I did shoot a M&P 340 last week wearing Hogue Bantams...it felt just like my 442 shooting 135g Gold Dot +p. I shot a cylinder of Gold Dot 135g Short Bbl 357, and while I felt the difference, it wasn't horrible. I did notice the M&P felt considerably lighter weight than the...
