Yes...that's exactly why I was asking ...good call !
After wanting an Old Model Blackhawk for some time I finally found a very nice unconverted model about a year ago that was made in 1967. No box but showing minimal signs of use .
These replies basically confirmed what I already thought...
Hmmm .... I can only speak from my own experience but I have gone through more than a case of CCI aluminum ammo in my Glock 34 and several hundreds of rounds through my Colt 1911 .... no jams or broken extractors .
I have watched shooters at steel plate matches I have attended use it as well...
While I wouldn't pay the extra $$ for a single action only I don't recall firing either my 14-1 or 17-3 in double action at any time.
Very nice 14-3 by the way !
I've used aluminum cased ammo in both .45 and 9mm with no issues at all and if the price is right I'll use it again . Why pay extra for brass cases if you don't reload and just throw them away anyways .
For general purpose shooting I like the CCI .22 products . I use a lot of the CCI Stnd Velo and if I need a little extra speed their Mini Mags have always worked well in my handguns and several of my rifles .
I will not use any Winchester rimfire ammo .
There are some pretty nice S&W snub revolvers pictured in this thread . I don't know why but I've always wanted one ...not to carry but just to own and shoot on occasion .
I was given a Taurus 85 a few years ago . It's an older model with the gloss blue finish and for it's price range it's fit...
The " extreme slowness " of the single action revolvers is one of the reasons I enjoy them . There's just something about loading and then extracting each round one at a time ...and by hand that causes one to slow down and smell the gun smoke ...so to speak .
Time seems to slow down to a very...
I too always wanted one of the Winchester 52 Sporters but they were a little too expensive for my tastes several years ago and even more so today.
I do remember the reproductions by Miroku but again I waited around too long ,,,they quit making them and the prices went up on them as well .
There...
I've used their centerfire ammo ...and their rimfire . I may use the centerfire again but under no circumstances would I use their rimfire ammo.
I'm all for buying and supporting American made products as long as they are at least as good ...if not better than a similar product made...
I have a 14-1 made in 1961 that I purchased a number of years ago. It came with the original box with matching serial # as well as Target Trigger ...Target Hammer and Target Grips all listed on the box .
