Model 48 help with buy decision

Thanks guys for the responses...I really appreciate it. It really is in beautiful condition. The numbers when you open the cylinder are NOT a model # with a dash. Appears to be just assembly #. I will have to go back and take off stocks to see serial #. Does this mean it is an earlier gun?

So I go to my LGS to buy a shotgun

I have lots of shotgun experience. I have put thousands of rounds through my Benelli auto shotguns in the states and overseas in high volume situations. I have no problem trusting my life on the reliability on my M4. My son's brand new 870 jams all the time. Unless a person has trained...

Model 48 help with buy decision

Last night I stopped by one of my LGS and was happy to see a few older Smith revolvers in the case that were .22 cal. One was a MODEL 48 (K-22 MRF MASTERPIECE). I don't know much about this model. It is a .22 mag which is appealing to me. The gun is blue and has the desirable 8 3/8" barrel...

    What to see in WY.

Depends on what you like...mountains or prairies. Personally I would go through Rapid City SD and the Black Hills on the way out and go through Sheridan...maybe catch a local rodeo there. Then I'd go east over the Big Horn mountains ...eat at the top of the range....on over to the little town of...

    Advice on 27-8 Registered Magnum

Thanks Thanks colt...guy is asking $1,100. I'm going to try to haggle and see if I can buy it for around $900. I'll let you know and give you a shot at it if I can't close the deal.

    family heirloom

That gun , depending on condition, could be worth many thousands of dollars! You really need to get it out of that holster, get the S&W letter and get it appraised! What a great historical gun you have...

    Advice on 27-8 Registered Magnum

Thanks for reply...I'm confused about this one. Barrel length listed as 5 inch. Bluebook values it at $675 but I've seen Bluebook be way off on Smiths and Colts that were low production runs or other collectible guns. Only ones I found that sold in last couple of years went for around $1,000 and...

    Advice on 27-8 Registered Magnum

I'm having a hard time deciding what to offer for 27-8 Registered Magnum. As I understand it these were a limited run (250 to 300) for each bbl length and were Lew Horton Performance Center guns. The one I'm looking at is being offered as LNIB with box, docs, and aluminum Performance Center...
