I hate second guessing my choices

Get the full size 9. Mine was my favorite shooting gun until I got the .40 full sized. I have a 9c that I hardly shoot anymore and my EDC is a Shield .40. Personally, I think that with the Shield now available, the 9c doesn't really have much of a niche. If I want something easily...

    Recoil Spring

Not sure why you would want to change the recoil spring. My M&P 40 has been flawless with the OEM spring and is the softest recoiling .40 that I have shot. It if ain't broke, don't fix it.

    M&P Compact Mag Question

Yes, it will. You can also buy a mag sleeve that will fit on the full size mag and fill in the space between the bottom of the grip and the bottom of the mag. When I carry the 9c I have the compact magazine in the gun and carry a full size mag as my spare.

    Lucky Me!

My experience with S&W M&P firearms is that they are as good or better than anything on the market - meaninf generally reliable after break in: M&P 9 - flawless with thousands of rounds through it. Literally went "bang" everytime I pulled the trigger. M&P 40 - Same as the FS 9mm M&p 9c - a...

What Is Really Going On With the M&P Shield 40?

Should have read the Glock forums before doing that. Glock .40s are notorious for kabooms because the Glock chamber is not fully supported. The Shield chamber is fully supported. Having said that, I owned a Glock 23 for years and put thousands of rounds through it with no problem. I have a...

    WORK SLOWDOWN ON S&W M&P 40 SHIELDS

Might try just dropping by the LGSs in your area periodically. I got mine by walking over to the biggest LGS in town while my car was being serviced at a dealership next door. They had received a shipment of 9s and .40s the day before. The 9s had sold within a couple of hours, but they still...

    SHIELD 9MM & 40 S&W MAGAZINES

Getting back to the OPs question, I suspect that the reason the .40 drops mags and the 9 doesn't is the additional frame flex from the more powerful .40 recoil.

    Why?

I have M&P 9 and 40. Both have been flawless from shot one and through thousands of rounds. Also have a 9c that had a couple of hiccups in the first 100 rounds, but has been flawless since then. I've also owned a Glock, FNP and Kahr. Replaced all three with M&Ps. Only the Glock matched...

M&P thumb safety: why I think it's a excellent safety feature

True, but the M&P doesn't have a grip safety. Even with a grip safety, most carry 1911s with the thumb safety engaged. A major firearms training facility has determined that 50% of unintentional discharges involving personal injury occur while holstering a pistol. The grip safety will...

M&P thumb safety: why I think it's a excellent safety feature

The new safety on the Shield is one of my favorite features. I don't like the safeties on the regular M&Ps because they are too big and too easy to disengage. I like safeties on M&Ps because with the pre-cock of the striker, the pistol is essentially a single action. The amount of rearward...

On the Fence. Shield, M&P9C or 642

The 9c has been my EDC for a couple of years now. Too often i didn't carry because the 9c, while somewhat easier to conceal than FS pistols, was still an effort to fully conceal, mainly because of the thickness. The Shield conceals effortlessly and comfortably, so I find myself carrying it...

On the Fence. Shield, M&P9C or 642

I have a 9c but find that it is not much more concealable than a FS. For me, there are two levels of concealment - holster or pocket. If I have to wear a gun in a holster, then I can typically conceal a FS as well as a compact. I was ready to buy a J frame revolver to pocket carry when the...

    FS M&P .40 accuracy issues

My FS M&P .40 is my second most accurate pistol, behind only my 1911.

M&P SHIELD 0.40 CALIBER MAGAZINE DROP PROBLEM POLL

The problem is insufficient engagement between the magazine and the mag catch. A new, larger mag catch might fix the problem. A new magazine with a "bump" seems to fix the problem for those who have received new magazines. Anything that increases the amount of engagement will probably work...

    M&P .40 or FN-P 9 - which ONE do I pick?

I had an FNP .40 and replaced it with an M&P .40. Couldn't get used to the DA/SA transition with the FNP. You may not think that its a big deal at the range, but shoot a qual round where you are coming out of the holster and shooting timed strings of fire and the different trigger pulls from...
