Ok need a little help here please.
I have a blued 57 no dash that has a 5-7/8 barrel measured from the cylinder face. It is very nice condition so what do you think about it not being 6" ? It has the original front sight, well everything looks original.
N4185xx 1977 I think.

It would be nice to make the changes to trigger and hammer. I have a gun smith that could do that for me if I had the parts. If anyone knows of some parts for sale please let me know and I will get them and have them installed.

Not for sale and what makes you so sure its re nickel.there are some small blemish areas in the finish. A little bit of flakes and imperfections. Especially under the grips!

This is a new one for me. My wife and i went to visit her Aunt last weekend and while there her Aunt said she wanted me to have a revolver that belonged to her Dad. He was a constable in Palo Pinto County Texas back in the 30's or 40's she did not know for sure. We were down helping her move...
I agree,Having never worked on a smith its not a good idea to learn on a nice 1905 target.
I will continue with the soaking and air idea.
FWIW the revolver is working fine now,\
I think I may look inside a shooter model 10-5 that has alot of blue-loss to holster rubbing.
I do have a set of...

Thanks for your help.
Yes the soak did work and I also found the M&P,1902 version. It says this will work for the 1905 & model 10 in the NRA assembly book. So I will start with the model 10 and work my way up to the 1905.
Well the latch was not stuck forward after all. It finally moved forward and released the Cyl.I guess its just sticky, probably dryed and cold oil. Here are some photos of the 1905
