Ok need a little help here please.
I have a blued 57 no dash that has a 5-7/8 barrel measured from the cylinder face. It is very nice condition so what do you think about it not being 6" ? It has the original front sight, well everything looks original.
N4185xx 1977 I think.

Not sure it's really all that unusual - my "six-inch" Model 27 and Model 28 both measure 5-7/8ths. Both are original and both are "N" prefix guns.

Checked it with three different tape measures, too. Just to be sure.

This is common.
I posted this a few months ago, but here are some of my N-Frame measurements:

27-2 N serial # 4 1/16"
28-2 S serial # 4"
28-2 N serial # 3 15/16"
29-2 N serial # 3 7/8"
57 N serial # 4 1/16"
624 4 1/16"

These are all "Four Inch" revolvers, however only one is exactly that length. For some reason this is just the way it is with S&Ws. Not sure if other frame sizes are this way. Too lazy right now to measure my K-Frames.:D

Thank you for the information. I guess there is nothing wrong after all.
