The J Edgar Hoover 22 “registered magnum” ??

John Milius, the writer of Dirty Harry, told me he owned the .44 Magnum used in the movie. Or at least that was the case quite a few years ago, and I don’t think he’s sold it.

How can I tell how old this gun is?

Looks like the gun hasn’t had much use, due to a minimal turn line, but it appears to show some rust due to poor storage. Hopefully it’s not pitted. Get some 4 Ought (0000) steel wool and a cleaning oil and try to take care of that.

Tom Angle 4” K-frame carved holster

Tom Angle of Jordan Valley, Oregon 4” K-frame holster. Carved and lined with elk lacing and hammer thong. Brand new! Tom does carving for Milt Sparks and this is a fantastic holster. We had a miscommunication on ordering that was 100% my fault and I plan to order another one but don’t want to...

Gap in my collection: Pre-war or transitional .357 Magnum.

I recently sold a 5” post war Transitional magnum that shipped to the Kansas State Patrol in 1948. It was in original condition with some holster wear, not perfect but better than one would expect for a law enforcement gun. I sold it for $9,000, which I thought was on the cheap side, but I sold...

LSB auction in Cody, WY - what did you get?

I agree. And I have a screenshot of that. But at this point, I’m pretty disgusted with them and don’t know that I even want it. All just to increase the selling price by $50.

LSB auction in Cody, WY - what did you get?

I do have one negative to say about the auction. I was winning bidder at the hammer of one of the Outdoorsman K-22s. He hammered “Sold” at $700 and someone in the room tried to bid a split second AFTER. They backed up, took his bid of $750 and started again. I was so mad I didn’t bid further...

LSB auction in Cody, WY - what did you get?

I made a run at several guns, including the Boulder Chief Outdoorsman, the 1917 Club gun, and an inscribed Colt pre-National Match. All went too high for my wallet. The really unique and rare guns are bringing big money but others that aren’t so special didn’t sell high. The 98% 2nd Model Target...

    Another tale of USPS woe.

I’m still waiting on a rifle that was shipped two weeks ago from Idaho. I’ve been to the post office twice now and they just keep shrugging their shoulders and saying “It will be delivered eventually.” I’m so frustrated but as long as it does “eventually” arrive, I guess I’ll be fine. But as...

    First year Highway Patrolman?

Yes, that would most likely be an early first year, 1954, gun.
