.38 Special Military & Police Model of 1905 4th Change, made/shipped 1924-25. Incorrect stocks (grips) as has been noted. Assuming overall condition is as pictured, it's probably worth +/- $250.
Turn line on cylinder almost non existent, bet the action is like new.

S&W would not have called it a Model of 1905 at that time, just a .38 M&P, square butt. I’d say more like $300-350 today. Look on Gunbroker for recent sales prices.
Looks like the gun hasn’t had much use, due to a minimal turn line, but it appears to show some rust due to poor storage. Hopefully it’s not pitted. Get some 4 Ought (0000) steel wool and a cleaning oil and try to take care of that.

Use a Big Frontier 45 scrub pad to remove that rust. It is specially made to not harm the bluing.
Please stop giving this advice. Steel wool, no matter how fine, is still steel and should never be used on blued steel guns. Bronze or brass wool is not hard to get and is much to be preferred for this type of use. Even it should be used gently, if you don't want to damage the existing blue finish.

My condolences on your loss.
A 38 Special revolver is a nice gem and family keepsake and is as dependable today as it was 100 years ago. Value priceless JMHO but $250 to $400 depending on where you live.
