    MIM vs. Forged Parts.

No question that the surface finish of forged parts can be made superior to MIM. That doesn't make them superior in function. PC, by virtue (supposedly) of the greater labor content of their processes, can accommadate the big limitation of forged parts in production: their greater dimensional...

Which do I buy.. Python or Nickel M19?

You have been given an accurate picture of both, and i can say i own examples of each that i will never part with. Carolina Tom's comments are consistent with my exprience. One additional point though: Pythons do fall out of timing more easily, but do NOT let any ole hack work on them...

    K frame magnum life?

I bought my 4" 19 new in 1979, and fired about 3 to 4K 'moderate' 357 125g rounds. Almost all were reloads and i was using Greendot back then. I can't quite recall the charge, but i know it was below max. Anyhoo, that was enough to cause a lot of end-play, which i fixed for, oh i don't know...

So.... How much does a 342TI weigh?

Mine's dad gum light, whatever it is. I never saw the point of the 340, when most owners load'em with 38+P anyhoo. -- gary ray

Oil or wax to protect the finish ?

A caution on wax: search for a non-abrasive type. Most car waxes have an very fine abrasive in the wax to smooth out pits in car finishes. That is NOT what you want. Read the wax labels carefully. I haven't systemically tested it -- and defer to those that have -- but have yet note a rust...

    9mm Revolver

I agree completely on weighing the +s and -s. The silly clips can take a bend (particularly in a pocket), and jam the action. I don't find reloads important in a carry piece, but for those that do, they are a negative & are something to futz with when shooting. More messing than auto mags...

What has happened to Smith and Wesson Quality Control.

i have a 625JM that won't pass a range rod due to misalignment between cylinder and barrel. yes, i need to send it back . . . but this a pretty obvious fault that a basic check should have caught. It will fire but spits likea sun-of-a-gun. Otherwise, every other smith i've bought in the past...

    9mm Revolver

A coupla points: 1) 9mm is particularly efficient in snubbies; my SP101 will launch a speer 124g +P at just over 1200 ftsecs, or within 50 ftsecs of typical 357 loads with MUCH less blast & bother. 2) i also havea M905 Taurus, all titanium. 9mm is a high pressure round (~35K) and i can't fire...

    686 5 inch half lug?

This 7 shot 5 incher is a great, great revo; really, i think s&w's best overall 357. Consider its advantages: <UL TYPE=SQUARE> <LI>5 inch tube is the best for 357: much handier than a six for me, and ballistically adds a lot over 4 and shorter; <LI>L frame means durable for 357 and odd number...
