Thank you! With that very helpful observation I was able to fix it by cleaning up the step with a file. It looked glossy like it was rolled over but I didn't know it was supposed to rest there. Maybe the gun was dropped while cocked and rolled the edge over. Working again.

Could be? This is what I imagine the hammer should look like. To me it looks too wide at the interface between the trigger and hammer, without clearance to drop the trigger under the hammer. I don't have a DAO pistol to compare to.
