    5946TSW: Franken-3rd Gen

Thank you. I saw the first one you referenced, but maybe I ate too many lead paint chips as a kid, but it didn’t make sense to me. The second one was much clearer. Now I just need to source the parts. Thank you once again.

    5946TSW: Franken-3rd Gen

Wow, what are the odds. I haven’t shot the 5946TSW for twelve years so I took it out yesterday. Great pistol, smooth trigger, but I just can not get used to the reset. I have a habit of going to the first click and the trying the follow up shot with no joy. Then I remembered that I have to go...

So Who's Selling Off Their 3rd Gens Due to Lack of Parts

Before the mention of no more parts, I was considering selling the LNIB 5946TSW to fund another project. It is proving to be a hard enough decision and now with all this chatter, I am really having a hard time. If I did sell, I doubt I would ever be able to find another 5946TSW in this condition.

General rule of thumb for recoil spring replacement

Thanks for the replies. I've heard 1000 for the 1911 and 5000 for Glock, but with the only place to shoot being an indoor range its hard to judge ejection when the brass only flies 2ft before being deflected by the stall wall.

General rule of thumb for recoil spring replacement

Is there a general rule of thumb for 3rd Gen recoil spring replacement? I would imagine 10mm and .40S&W would be on a more frequent interval than 9mm and .45acp. Thanks.

New to Me 4566 has a clicking problem

Had the same problem with a 1076. After closer inspection, noticed that one of the "ears/tabs" was broken off. Took to a local retired police armorer and he put a new one in (took about 10 minutes and minimal cost). Noticed that the new one appeared to be a updated version that did not have...

Landed a 4596 to compliment my S&W 45 all steel collection

Congrats. Very nice 4596. I came across one at the LGS about 5 years ago (LNIB, square trigger guard, satin hammer and trigger, and straight delrin grips). Asking price was $499. I took too long to think about it and it was gone less than a week later.

    5946 TSW?

I am curious as well. I managed to pick up a S&W demo (LNIB) 5946TSW back in '06 for $440 and have only put 845 rounds through it since. After checking my records it appears that I have not shot it in over 4.5 years (please forgive me, as these are very nice shooting pistols).

    Worldwide Plastic Pistols popularity ?

From what I have learned/heard (in no specific order): 1. Some agencies will only purchase S&W. 2. Some agencies will only purchase "Made In USA". 3. S&W was practically giving the M&P away to agencies + giving agencies duty/web gear to go with M&P pistols.

Need some help - striker safety

I have removed the striker and cleaned the striker, striker channel and the striker safety, but it has not made any improvements. I'll think give S&W a call on Monday. Thanks.

Need some help - striker safety

Came back from the range the other day and after cleaning the M&P 9mm, I noticed that the trigger felt strange. It was stiff when dry firing and when the slide had not been cycled, it felt like it was sticking. Took the slide off and tested the trigger and it was smooth and normal. Checked...

Looks like the cat is out of the bag, FBI 1076's over $2k now

I would just like to have a few of the extended mags.

    M&P .357 Sig

I never understood how this cartridge did not gain a better following. When you look at the agencies that adopted it (several federal agencies, numerous state police/dps) it seems to fill so many rolls, that it should have had a tremendous civilian following. Good thing that I have never...

    Check Out My 686

I would say that you did better than "ok". I would say you got one heck of deal. The 686 is a great 357. I saw a very nice 586 the other day for $529, but not sure if I want an 8 3/8" revolver.

    Ultrasonic

Well took it to the funshop and I am amazed at the results of using the ultrasonic. Definitely a believer in how through the ultrasonic cleans. Solution that funshop used has a rust inhibitor in it, so a little oil here and there and it is as smooth as new. Thanks again to all for sharing...
