Check Out My 686

I just got back for a local gun show. There was an individual walking around with a Smith&Wesson box. I asked him if he had a gun for sale. He said he had a 686 for $450. Here's what I got, a 686 no dash and original box. No paperwork or tools. Did I do OK?

Identical to the first handgun I ever bought, which I still have and still shoot all the time and have put thousands and thousands of rounds through. Mine still looks like (almost) new and is still tight and very accurate. I think for the price you did VERY good and now have a beautiful firearm that I challange you to try and wear out. The gun itself looks great, as does the box.

I would say that you did better than "ok". I would say you got one heck of deal. The 686 is a great 357. I saw a very nice 586 the other day for $529, but not sure if I want an 8 3/8" revolver.

Good buy and for me the revolver that made me fall in love with Smith and Wesson revolvers. You probably know what I mean. I have a lot of nice guns but that doesn't mean they all turn my crank. It wasn't my first S&W by a long shot but this particular pistol is the one that triggered my infatuation with them. At the time it shifted my focus from Pythons to Smiths, though I still love the Colts too. I now have at least one of each of these from 686 through 686-5. Very nice guns.

HEY. Beautiful gun .Yours is a great lesson for all of us. Dont hesitate to stop folks at a guns show and ask, hey you have a gun for sale. Lots of folks , for whatever reason need the money and why should dealers/resellers get all the deals. You and I both know, a dealer would have said ,oh those arent worth much, give you 300.00 . Unfortunately if he needed the money he might take it. Good for you. Bob
