    Possible double fire - 5906 3rd gen

Ok, I can for sure change back to the factory spring and see if that's the case. I'm going to change the spring first thing, and check the other parts to look for damage. Thanks so much for your input Armorer!

    Possible double fire - 5906 3rd gen

The single action pull measures almost right at 4 pounds, so it didn't seem dangerously low. The trigger return springs were the absolute lowest Wolff sold and I'm hoping that's the cause. I know I didn't mess with the gun's SA notches but I have no idea what was done before I bought the gun...

    Possible double fire - 5906 3rd gen

I've done some basic modifications to a 5906 to teach myself about pistols. I've taken it to the range 3 times since the modifications with no problems until today. I fired about 100 rounds through it and near the end I had a definite double fire. I don't know if my finger came off the trigger...

The contrast on that CS-9 is sweet. It makes stand out a little more. Great set of guns there!

The Dark Side of 3rd Generation Autos

They look great! I have the same model and era it looks like with the square trigger. The finish is really flat, no reflective surfaces.I'm a bling type of guy though so I do wish it were a nice deep blue. I like the look of the square trigger that yours and mine have but I wish I could find...

    S&W Semi-Auto Picture Thread

3rd gens I've got a couple of recent pick ups and a police trade in. Picked up a 6946 compact DA auto from Gander Mountain very recently and I'm very happy with it. decent bit of finish wear, but the trigger and action are both nice and smooth. It looks a little beat up but it was a great...

Thanks for the welcome gents. It's also nice to see a few Texans around here. I was really impressed with the participation and knowledge members were able to impart to each other. Anytime I googled something about these 3rd gen Smiths, from refinishing to parts questions, I'd invariably end up...

Howdy Chuck! These are hefty pistols but I like the control the weight gives me when I'm trying to outshoot my club members. I know I won't want to lug one around all day but I like that they were rugged and reliable enough to be an all around choice for law enforcement for so long. I bought in...

Hey everyone, I figured it was about time I participated since I've gotten so much valuable info from this forum. I dipped my toe in the S&W pool when I was at my dealer here in San Antonio, Texas and I was picking up a Ruger 10/22 I had ordered from gunbroker. I saw a nice shiny Smith 5906...
