Hey everyone, I figured it was about time I participated since I've gotten so much valuable info from this forum.
I dipped my toe in the S&W pool when I was at my dealer here in San Antonio, Texas and I was picking up a Ruger 10/22 I had ordered from gunbroker. I saw a nice shiny Smith 5906 with nice factory wood grips on it. It called to me haha.
I sold it after having it sit in my closet for a few months and only dry firing it. I was still intimidated by tearing down guns at that point so i didn't want to fire a gun I didn't know how to clean. I regret selling it because the finish was in the 90-95% range and had clearly not been used much, I didn't know what I had :'(
Fast forward to today and I'm much more comfortable with tearing down, cleaning, and tinkering with my firearms.
Picked up a police trade in 6946 from Gander Mountain on special. Jumped on it after knowing what I'd lost before. And just this past week I rescued a 5904 and 5906 from a police confiscation auction. People don't know what they are missing out on with these old S&W steel guns.
