I had a Marlin .357 and I really regret getting rid of it. It is a quality gun and the .357 out of a rifle length barrel is an awesome round. I wouldn't feel undergunned for deer or medium size game out to 100 yards. Buy one and keep it.

Right now I carry an older steel frame 3" j frame. I am also thinking about buying a Walther PK380. Are there any advantages of the PK380 over the 3" j frame?

Titegroup is a good powder to use for plinking and some medium loads. It is the powder that I use second. My first choice for plinking is Trail Boss. Fills the case, is clean, accurate and goes a long way. Trail Boss is the best powder for plinking in almost any caliber.
