I had a lead "lump" in my 686 that NOTHING would get out. Even the old vinegar & peroxide method. (I know, not recommended). I finally resorted to using a jeweler's file under a large, lighted magnifying glass <gasp!>
that took care of 90% and the last of it finally came out after repeated...
