4 inch 17-6 gun show find

No, it was the 17-6. It had a double lug and that's what threw me off as well as the balance being all off and such. It had an almost "toy" feel to it, like an old Kilgore cap gun or such.................Dan.

4 inch 17-6 gun show find

While strolling through a LGS I came upon one of these in a 6" version and asked to see it. It felt oddly balanced and finally attributed it to the fact that it had an aluminum cylinder. Were all of the -6's equipped with aluminum cylinders??................Dan.

New guy here in the market for a 686 6"

I kept finding 686's in 2 1/2 " and 4" with the IL. I picked up a 4" with the IL but drew the line on the 2 1/2" with the internal lock. Just before my bypass surgery I swapped off my 29-3 on a 686 'M' 6" with 30 rounds down the pipe. I like the Idea of a hammer firing pin and no internal lock...

    Painting Front Sight on Revolver

I sure as heck have no idea what the lot of you are drinking or smoking, but when I lift up any of my revolvers to squeeze off a round, I sure as hell don't see any serations, either a big blob of black or a big blob of orange, must be something in the water, although there are some lines that...

    Renaissance wax

I started using the Ren Wax this year, after using J@J for years. But only at the insistence of my wife, who complained that the J@J stunk when in use and or left on a cloth. Myself I think that the Ren wax has a similar smell but not as intense. They both protect metal surfaces pretty well and...

2Hawk, you chamfered the star extractor also? Is there a pro or con for that operation?..........Dan.

    Chamfering 625 Charge holes

After checking tooling prices and the comments here I bumped into an old Gunsmith pal today and arranged to "borrow" some of his tools to do my "project" and the topper is it will be under his direct supervision. Wow! finally a win-win situation. I appreciate all of the pictures and suggestions...

    New to me Model 28-2

My thoughts on the trigger guard screw would be that it would probably be an earlier five screw revolver...........Dan

    Chamfering 625 Charge holes

as I stated in my previous post, competition is a thing of the past. I have some 225gr swc from Penn bullets and just received 500 - 255gr.swc from X-Caliber (sweet lookin bullet for some experimenting with my 625 in the 45 acp. Might try my hand at some medium game hunting with it.............Dan

    Chamfering 625 Charge holes

B.O.B. Although your information is greatly appreciated, myself and Competition are now a thing of the past. A recent Coronary Bypass has seen to that, and I'm just looking for a solution to loading moon clips in a much easier fashion. Thanks........Dan.

    Chamfering 625 Charge holes

That's a pretty good outlay of cash. I know good tools are expensive but I've only got the one 625. It might be a better idea for me to send it back to S@W for their "enhancement" or whatever they're calling it package............Dan.

    Chamfering 625 Charge holes

I'm experiencing some difficulty when loading full moon clips into the cylinder of my S@W 625. This happens especially wirt5h the SWC loads. I understand that the charge holes can be chamfered to an extent that the hangups can be minimized. My question is, can an experienced individual do this...

    X-Calibers Cast Bullets

No, but I gave it the old guy thumbnail scrape test and it never left a mark. And no I don't have a bhn tester. I saw the ad in the current edition of Hand loader magazine and called the toll free number. I got a recording and figured that's it. About two hours later Chris called but I forgot...
