Chamfering 625 Charge holes

After checking tooling prices and the comments here I bumped into an old Gunsmith pal today and arranged to "borrow" some of his tools to do my "project" and the topper is it will be under his direct supervision. Wow! finally a win-win situation. I appreciate all of the pictures and suggestions thanks a lot..........Dan.

GEEZE,
That sure makes that one a one owner gun for the rest of forever.
I think that falls under the category of ....
"everything we must do, we must do to excess'

This is a gun built for competition, I need the reloads to be fast and slick. The round is still supported by the chamber and rounds eject with the clip no different then others.

2Hawk, you chamfered the star extractor also? Is there a pro or con for that operation?..........Dan.

Yes, I did. Doesn't seem to make sense to leave the square edges on it, when it's just as likely to be the place a shoulder or case mouth hangs up.

I can see a concern with doing it on rimmed calibers, ie, if you went to far the cases may have a tendency to slip under the ejector. Not a concern with moonclips, however. ;)

on the 625 you can radius the star a little bit, supported by the moonclip so it doesnt really matter much.

on 38 special guns, you shouuuuldnt , unless you use moonclips in it all the time. If you use speedloaders, or load them in one at a time - dont touch the star.

Here are a few more i've done

(havent cleaned up the extractor arms in this pic yet )
