    Ordered my 108411 today!

Good luck to you. Took me 6 months to get my 108483, but was well worth the wait. Carries well and shoots like a dream.

    S&W service...disapointing

I've sent several S&W's back for various reasons, reblueing, action work etc. Last one was a S&W 1911 that went full auto on me (broken sear). They have always been prompt and courteous. I would never hesitate to use them. Several years ago I sent them a used and very abused 2.5" 66 for a...

Questions on carry options w/ 65-1

I usually use Galco holsters; good quality and fast service, especially if it is a stocking holster. I use Craig Spegel grips on all my J & K frame round butts. Sorry you lost your Sig. I've got a 220 that's been worked over by the Cylinder & Slide Shop. Great shooter.

    progressive press?

Guess I'm the only one here that uses the Green Machine. My first press in 1968 was a RCBS Jr then went to a Rock Chucker in 1975. Finally bought a 2000 Auto Index last summer. Turns out great ammo and is quick to change calibers.

    Won't chamber .357 anymore

I agree with chief38. Lewis Lead Removers work. Also, I shoot a lot of 38's and brush my 38/357 cylinders with worn 45 cal brushes. The extra diameter of the 45 brushes helps. Good Luck. BTW, be careful if you're thinking of using SS brushes, they could scratch your cylinder.

    Help with PC pistol project.

Check with Numrich, you never know what they've got.

    J frame 357 ?

I've got a 340 and a 640; Craig Spegel grips on both. 357's in the 340 are down-right wicked; tollerable in the 640. Like many people I carry +P's in them, usually 158gr LSWCHPs.

    Weigand Custom 4PJ M-640 w/lots pics

IF you contact Craig Spegel, he will refinish his grips. He may be able to throw some checkering on them. IMHO, he makes the finest grips available for a very reasonable price.

    S&W 1911Sc question...

By all means, call S&W. I've never had a problem with my 1911SC (early billboard slide) but my 1911PD went full auto on me at the range; (hangin' on to a 34 oz hunk of gun metal in full auto was a real hoot). Anyway, I called S&W, told them what happened and the first thing the guy said was...

    Model 60 38 special +P or not ?

I checked with the factory a year ago and was told that starting with the Model 60-7 all are safe with +P ammo.

Looked at a Scandium .357 today

Gotta tell ya, I fired mine with 357 loads.....downright brutal. I carry it now with +p's in it.

    Ankle holster for J frame

Got to agree that Alessi is the best but GALCO is very good and available. Been using one for years. I use the model w/o a safety strap and have never had a problem with it coming out.

My new to me S&W model 581

Nice piece, congrats. Experience as a LEO taught me the value of fixed sights; my truck gun is a 681 and I'm very comfortable with it.

    Mag-na-porting a 340?

Steve....I agree with all the above; save your money. What I did to tame the recoil on my 340SC was get a good set of grips that fit (Spegels) and use +P ammo. I find magnum loads downright brutal.
