Here is my latest score. It is a very good looking model 581 no dash.:DIt came with out box and paper work but did come with cleaning kit and the S&W oiled paper.Serial #AAH65xx,I think that is about November 1982.It was shot very little and not carried around in a holster.I am very pleased.Anybody else have one of these?I can cross that off my must have list and look for a model 651 now.

Bought a 581 no dash, no M a few weeks ago. Little used and at a good price. It is a nice shooting pistola.

I absolutely love mine. It was obviously an issue gun, but it works like a champ and I now want a 681 to keep it company in the safe. My end goal is to collect all the fixed sight .38/.357 smith service revolvers made up to present day. But I've a long ways to go still.

Nice piece, congrats. Experience as a LEO taught me the value of fixed sights; my truck gun is a 681 and I'm very comfortable with it.

Here's my 581, an ex-PD duty gun, these are awesome revolvers. Mine has been holster carried a lot but shows little evidence of firing. I have since added a blue Tyler T-grip. These were THE police guns of the 80's, IMO.
