    Back again with another one.

Hey again guys. I am still selling down a friends collection for him and he has decided to let one of his S&W K's go. This is a 14-4, pined 8 3/8" barrel K serial number 31K5227. I don't know the born on date or what all the markings on the grip part of the frame are for. This one looks like it...

Sorry, I HAD to check and make sure the S&W research letter on this one had not been posted and I missed it. It's been a month, how long does it usually take ?

    Got hold of a S&W marked U.S.N. !!?

Yeah, it had me asking questions too. I checked it out as close as I could. Maybe the pic I shot didn't do it justice. I think, base on checking and rechecking, it is a double struck "9". The other two serial number stamps are smaller dies and it looks like a "9". I'll call it a 9 until someone...

    Got hold of a S&W marked U.S.N. !!?

You guys are something else. Thanks a ton. I don't know if the wife will OK $50 to find out. Fixed incomes in gun collecting are a killer for those of you who aren't there yet !! :( Many thanks.

    Got hold of a S&W marked U.S.N. !!?

The number 16439 is on the front grip strap, on the back of the cylinder and on the flat on the bottom of the barrel. The last date on top of the barrel is Oct. 4 98. In front of that date is a long list of dates. Above that is the date July 1 84. If you still need the pic of the back of the...

    Strange markings on Victory model.

I have a Victory Model, at least I feel sure it is. # 381653 is stamped on the grip bottom, barrel and cylinder. All three have a "V" in front of the #'s. Sorry to say it also has an import stamp on the left side of the frame under the cylinder, "VGA SAC CA." My question is on the markings on...

    Got hold of a S&W marked U.S.N. !!?

Well, it is helpful and it ain't !! :) The frame, barrel and cylinder have matching #'s. I just do not see the other numbers you are talking about. See the pics. On top of the barrel, the last date stamp is "Oct 4 98". On the inside of the right grip panel is written in pencil "16439", same as...

    Got hold of a S&W marked U.S.N. !!?

I've gotten hold of an older S&W I can't fine anything about. The grip is rather small for the rest of the gun. Barrel is 6", on the bottom of the grip it is marked "U.S.N.". Under that is an anchor and under that is ".38 D.A." and "No." Serial # is 1643X is on the grip. Left side of the barrel...

Got a chance to buy two older S&W's.

OK, this is what I needed to know. The Bottom Of the 1917 (?) is "No 1019XX". Doesn't say 1917. The 32-20 is rough. He has a Colt Army Special in 32-20 that while the finish is mostly worn off there is no pitting and the action is perfect. I know, go to a Colt forum :) Thanks a bunch, you have...

Got a chance to buy two older S&W's.

Been a while since I've been here but need help again. An old friend is selling off some of a large gun collection. I have got 2 that I'd like to buy from him but can not, for the life of me, find the info I need to decide what they are worth. They are: A 1917 3" barrel DA 45. It is a 5 screw...

    Newbie question

Thanks for all the input, guys. I've been given prices from $450 - 600. If it had been a really rare model I'd stick it back in the safe. I plan now to take it out at my next range trip and see how she shoots. I'll lube it up good and shoot only FMJ. With all the guns I've owned in the last...
