While cleaning my 63-5 after a trip to the range---I shot 100 rounds of Federal 22lr 40gr Solid Champion AutoMatch Ammo---I discovered this! Obviously, something is wrong, and I'll be sending the revolver back to S&W. Meanwhile, I'd appreciate your expert opinions as to what the problem might...

I have a new M63-5, which I really like. I'm thinking of replacing its S&W rubber grips with Altamont's wood target grips---the ones that come with the M60-Pro. Nothing wrong with the rubber grips, I just like the look of wood grips. I'd appreciate it if M63-5 owners who've made this grip change...

Thanks to all for replying. As I said in my earlier post, the problem cannot be that the gun is dirty. I cleaned it extremely well after the range trip. Cleaned and unloaded, it continues to freeze up on the eight pull of the trigger. I think Bowyer is right: I had better give S&W a call.

Took my new Model 63 to the range for the first time. Shot perfectly the first 60 or so rounds. Then, suddenly, with one unfired round left in the chamber, the cylinder would not rotate. I removed the ctg and gently de-cocked and re-cocked the gun. The cylinder rotated normally again. Then...

Congratulations! I, too, quite recently bought a 63-5 without ever actually handling one. Circumstances have conspired to prevent my going to the range, but, man, do I love the feel and balance of this little .22. I can't wait to try it out (next week, I hope). Glad to hear yours shot so well...

There are currently a couple of brand new S&W 63-5s (3-inch barrel) on GunBroker. I recently purchased this model after waiting a year for one to turn up. Can't wait to take it to the range.
