Looking up a Beretta SN
I know this is late, but this page allows you to look up your serial number for date of manufacture: Firearm Technical Data
Also, this page has a chart of imported Italian-made proof marks that you can consult to find the year of manufacture: Date of Manufacture

Hey Stainz, my 627 Pro 4" is looking for a set of wood grips and is torn between the Ahrends either with finger grooves or smooth.
I see you've got both in your photo... can I talk you into describing the feel and handling of each in relation to each other, or the Hogues that S&W puts on them...
My last shooting session with my S&W 627 surprised me when the strain screw worked its way loose and I began to experience light firing pin strikes with the subsequent failure to fire of perhaps 1 in 8 rounds.
Researching the solution (which was thankfully solved by folks in this forum) made...
Wired Magazine has an article that claims Android phones recieve data over 50% faster than iphones... here Sorry Steve: Android 50% Faster than iPhone on the Web | Epicenter| Wired.com
I think it'll be worth checking both out for the way you plan to use it, and see for yourself in person.
Remind me never to play poker with you. I think you'd have won the bet. :)
The strain screw "looked fine" when I took of the rubber Hogue grips, but it was able to turn nearly 3-1/2 full turns until it set! When I pulled the trigger after that, the more familiar stiff feeling in the trigger...
Thank you!
I'll check around the extractor and look at the strain screw tonight.
I read that the strain screw should be in tight. I assume that if it's worked loose, that's the likely issue, and I will give it a little Loctite to help it remain in place.
Let me know if otherwise, and I'll...
I took my 627 Pro to the range last night and after the first two 8-round loads, I began to experience 1-2 failures-to-fire for every load afterward.
The primers were struck with what appeared to be a good impression, but no bang. It occurred with all 3 types of ammo I had on hand - Winchester...
Wow, handgunner356, those are beautiful.
What do you polish them with?
Speaking of that, what's the proper order for care? Do you clean, then oil, then polish... or clean, polish, then oil?
Though I've read threads about care of stainless revolvers I have never seen mention of this.
I am...

A Smith & Wesson Model 627 Pro Series, 8-shot .357, 4" barrel, N-frame round butt.
I'm in love.
Due to life and its timing, I've not yet had the chance to take her out for our first date. But here are some pics from...
Wasp spray worries me. A quick googling turned up this, which may make you want to reconsider.
According to Snopes.com pyrethrins are the active ingredients in wasp spray. Pyrethrins work on the nervous system of the insects they are sprayed on.
Looking at a few of MSDS (material safety data...
Just a quick note... the seller and I reached an agreement and the 627 is underway.
If for any reason the 627 and I don't discover an affinity for one another, I'll be in touch with handgunner356 before offering it generally.
James
Thank you, handgunner356. I'm planning to jump on it as soon as the seller and I work out the details.
This being a first-time purchase for me, how do we go about it? Is it like eBay, where buyer sends the $$ ahead and then the seller sends the package? Is it based on trust, or does the FFL...
jesse and David, thank you for your comments.
I've checked out gunbroker. That's useful. Thank you.
Can I ask, what is MIM (and why is not well-liked); and why would a "frame mounted firing" pin be less desirable? Aha... I found out an excellent guide to S&W here...
Been looking for a revolver for a while... it will be my first firearm purchase. I admit to being something of a newbie at this. So I've two questions.
I've been offered a 627 Pro for $640. It's seen only 50 rounds and the inside of a safe more than anything else. Is this a good price on this...
