I killed a nice 8 point last year with my 6.5" 657 wearing an antique Weaver red dot sight. My 454 had upset it's scope with recoil so I took out "the spare". I was really impressed with the .41 Mag.
I have been using 5.3 Unique with a 180 lswc for years. Up to 6 Unique with a jacketed bullet. Speaking of Glocks Ron, I used to think the same thing untill a case head blew out right in the middle of an IDPA match. I bought a cut rifled barrell to shoot my lead bullets through now.
Evan Marshall's data on actual shootings favor a 150-155 gr load for combat. For civil liability, I only carry factory loads, save the reloads for practice. I'm old school, 6 gr of Unique works with a 180 gr bullet.
I have fired .38 Super in a .357 Mag. The semi rim of the auto cartridge will headspace the cartdidge in the chamber. If it will chamber, it will fire.
The .38 Super is a semiautomatic pistol cartridge, the .38 Spl is a revolver cartridge. The Super is a little hotter than the Spl, in fact...
