Forum History- Any members from 2000 left?

It's about balance... True, but I have SAVED myself money using info from from people, too. Money that might have gone to a gunsmith went to...well, probably another gun, now that I think about it....

Forum History- Any members from 2000 left?

I don’t get around here much except to check ads…wonder if this thread still posts? Here since 3-2-2000 but got tied up in plastic M&Ps and 1911s for years. Got to get by here more now since I’m piddling with S&W revolvers again.

Trying to replace Shield 1.0 sights.. FAIL

The only suggestions I have are a long soak in penetrating oil for the whole sight area first. Most here use Kroil, I use whatever is handy. I put it into the sight screw hole and screw the hex screw back in/out a few times to try to push oil down under the sight and let it sit. I have found...

    Why bother with a Full Size M&P 45 M2.0

Two similar guns I felt more comfortable with a bigger bullet, I already reloaded .45 ACP, and .45 was required for the CDP class in IDPA competition. I had been shooting 1911s in IDPA but decided to shoot one action all the time to get the most practice with it and could not carry a 1911 on...

    Police Cartridge Loops/Slides?

Loops-we had drop boxes and a few speed loaders, only deputies still used loops in '79. In the early 80s, the Street Survival lessons included carrying a six-round loop carrier in addition to your speed loaders so you could do a partial reload. Most of us carried. .41 mags and nobody made .41...

    Why bother with a Full Size M&P 45 M2.0

I shot and carried the mid-size (same slide as compact) in plain clothes and the full size in uniform for a few years. I liked the shorter for carry but I always felt like the full size had noticeably less muzzle rise so I carried it when I could. I don't know if everyone would feel it, I just...

    **SOLD** 80s Safariland/Rogers K/sq grips

Probably not going to use these now and judging from Evil Bay listings, folks still want these discontinued grips. These have a ding on the bottom, otherwise great. If you were a cop in the 80s, you probably had some like these on your 19/66. Priced at $30 total, mailed to you. PP or MO.

Just cant help tinkering with my guns

I like all your polished places. The cylinder latch is great, and if I ever have a SS revolver again, I'll polish a band like that. I've wanted one like that since the 70s, when I saw Mag-Na-Port (I think) doing it on guns. 39 so years ago, I carried a Model 57 that started with a wide...

    LOOKED LIKE A HI-POWER

39-2s are neat guns, and I always think about the ISP adoption and how they kind of led the way for autos on cops hips. Saw one one stuffed backwards in the waistband of a local narc narc not more than 15 years ago. That being said, at a $600 ask, there better be enough wiggle room to let it...

    "Reckon these'll still shoot?"

Oh, sure, not a problem. I wiped them off, bagged them separate from the shiny looking 35 or so standing in styrofoam in the box, and sent them home with her. I saw years of qualifications by guys carrying brass cased Remington 41 magnums that were tarnished and green (not like this!) fired...

    "Reckon these'll still shoot?"

Lady who recently lost her husband brought over a Hunter rig with belt loops. Had someone clean the gun for her but he was not too sure of the ammo. The +Ps in the box looked new, the ones in the loops were a bit moldy. Hadn't seen that much verdigris on casings since the lieutenant made the...

    Holster modification for M&P/Trijicon HD

Second Version The first version broke after a couple of bends back and forth. I had an idea for an improved version, an L-shaped on. I managed a quick version but did not get the bend in the right place. For now, it is attached to the outside of the holster but when it isn't so hot in the...

    Holster modification for M&P/Trijicon HD

The Comp-Tac Gladiator holster is an OWB attached to the belt with leather loops with snaps, no problem from them as they don't have an edge like a clip...just the rear sight cutting jacket lining. Wasn't nearly the issue with Bowie sight I had on there before.

    Holster modification for M&P/Trijicon HD

That may be it if my next option in Kydex design doesn't work or I can't make it to fit/suit me. I just can kind of work with Kydex and have sheets on the workbench, never tried to bend metal before.
