Unfired Nickel 29-3 in walnut box

I picked up a beautiful unfired nickel 29-3 in a walnut box. Is the box a factory option? The big 29 is a “N” S/N revolver.

Is this as bad as it looks?

I like the forum, but it is time to let the lock hate die a peaceful death. I would prefer that we continue to have S&W revolvers than let them die like Colt did. There is always the clunky Ruger forum for those that don’t like S&W revolvers anymore.

Is this as bad as it looks?

All my new S&Ws look like that (see photos). I’ve had no problems with my new shooter grade revolvers. My collectible revolvers mainly sit in the safe.

New Eagle Grips for 3” 657

I love my new Eagle Rosewood Combat grips for my 3” 657. I had been told that they were poor quality Indian made grips. The wood is sourced from India, but the grips are beautifully made in the US.

    Model 27-2 with Wood Boxes

Is it common for the ‘70s & early ‘80s Model 27s to be sold with wood boxes? I have a 8 3/8” barrel 27-2 that was sold in a cardboard box and a 5” 27-2 & 6” 27-3 that each came with wood box’s.

    N frame Feel

I carried a 4” Model 28 when I worked for LaConner WA PD in the early ‘80s. We drove Brown Dodge Diplomats and used K band radars. I have over a dozen N frames now and finally picked up a excellent Hwy Patrolman last week. Like holding an old heavy friend. My old partner is now a Detective and...

    Model 48

Thank you, this is my 1st K frame & Rimfire S&W revolver. I just couldn’t say know to my buddy that made me an offer that I just couldn’t refuse.

    Model 48

My Model 48 is pinned & recessed, has a 1970’s s/n but has a internal firing pin. Was this because the 48 was a slow seller? Mine has a 8 3/8” barrel which would be even a slower seller.

    Model 657 3”

Picked up a 657 w/a 3” barrel and combat grips this week cheap. Guys don’t want .41 Magnums in the gun shops in rural Oregon. I’d use it for home defense except I’d never hear again if I lit it off in the House. Looking forward to shooting it at our range with the 58 I just picked up several...

    Model 58

It was better than expected, great revolver. The finish is 95%+ and grips are in great condition. It is a great companion for my 657.

    Model 58

A local old school gun shop has a good looking Model 58 for sale for $650. There is no box or tool but three boxes of ammo. Fair price?

    Grip Removal w/o grip screw

The top of the grips will move from side to side. The bottom of the grip is solid. The side plate looks like it have never been off & I have never done that. I will have a local gunsmith take off the grips for me.
