    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

I should have noticed this before but the numbers on the yoke are C or G 1 and below that 3084 but the number on the crane is 28248. After reading more about revolvers I understand these are some kind of production numbers and should match. It seems a new/different cylinder was added at some...

    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

There are no serial numbers inside the yoke area or on the bottom of the barrel. The only number I could find is on the butt. In response to Absalom's question, both the hammer and trigger are case hardened. My lighting didn't allow the case hardening to show up.

    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

The bore is as clean or cleaner than the chambers. I can't find any serial numbers other than on the butt. The cylinder face and the ejector star are clean, no numbers. The lack of numbers is one reason I suspect the cylinder may have been changed out. I need to find a 38 Special cartridge...

I am not sure how many pictures I can post at a time so here are a few more.

    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

Here are some pictures of my revolver. It apparently was cleaned up for resale as I cannot find any markings other than Smith & Wesson, the CTG marking, the patent markings, and Made in USA.

    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

Thanks for all the information. I never would have suspected the pistol was that old. I will still try to post some pictures. I will find a 38 Special cartridge and see if the cylinder has been modified. I suspected the grips were not original since there was no serial # inside either grip.

    Help Identifying Inherited Revolver

I inherited my father-in-law's revolver and it is apparently older than I thought from attempts I have made to identify it. His business was robbed around Christmas of 1976 and I thought he purchased the gun soon after that. The gun looks relatively new, though is has a few nicks on it, and...

New M&P Bodyguard owner has a question.

I don't have a Bodyguard but I do have a Shield and a FS 9 and they both show the case just like your Bodyguard. I never had noticed that before.

    Holster for the shield

I have a N82 (Nate Squared) Professional and it is really comfortable. Like 9shield said you have to give the gun a slight twist as you draw but it took me just a few minutes of practicing to get the hang of it. It is very secure so no one can grab the gun and pull it from the holster. The...

New M&Ps get three free magazines

I sent my information to S&W at the end of April or first of May and haven't received my 3 magazines yet. HOWEVER, I sent CS an email over this past weekend asking about the magazines and they responded today. Their response was that due to the high demand the magazines had been back ordered...

Looking at buying an M&P Shield

When you rack the slide on a Shield, try gripping the slide in your left hand and with your right hand push the pistol frame forward. Using that method makes racking the slide manageable for some people. It may not work for everyone but after I read about it, I tried it, and it sure works for me.

How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

I just purchased my Shield 9 here in Texas for $399.98, with tax it was $414.97. I could have saved $20 if I had gone to another store but didn't like the service there so figured it was worth the $20 to buy from someone I liked.

    Hogue Handall?

When I bought my pistol, I went into the store figuring I would end up with a Glock but I wanted to look at other brands also. I found I didn't like the grips with finger groves because none of them fit my hand. Several had a texture on the backstrap that was uncomfortable for me to grip. One...

    Remora pocket holster

I was looking at the Remora website and they recommend heating the holster, then cooling the holster, to make it better conform to the to the gun. Did the OP follow those instructions? I don't have one of these holsters but it does seem to me that it would be a loose fit regardless. My...

New M&Ps get three free magazines

I was in Gander Mountain on 4/29 looking at guns and they had the M&P 9 on sale but the sale ended that day. I ended up buying the gun then went back 2 days later and bought 2 more mags. I found this thread tonight, sent in my information, and S&W said pending verification I should have my 3...
