    PPK yes or no?

Somewhere in the story of Walther is the Manhurin connection. In the late 1980s PPK/s models in .22 and .380 started showing up marked Manhurin, Made in France. At least one article I read claimed that Manhurin had been making all of the Walthers since after the war that were marked "Made in...

How to sell a collection? (not a for sale post)

Well, actually none. I would not have been surprised by that nor offended, but I've bought and sold enough guns in 40 years of fooling with these things that I have a pretty fair idea what my stuff is worth and I have no intention of giving them away. I never take offense at people making...

How to sell a collection? (not a for sale post)

I may end up liquidating the bulk of my firearms collection. Its not large in the big scheme of things, around 70 pieces, lots of S&W, some Colt, Browning, Beretta and the like. Nothing terribly rare. I don't think I want to mess around selling them piece by piece but would rather get it over...

27-2 vs. Python for range duty

Life is short and the best deal is the one you like the best. They're both great revolvers. I shot a fair amount of PPC at one time with a 6" Python so I have a soft spot for them but the 27 is great also. Myself, what I really like for shooting .38 wadcutters is the Model 14, the last...

    To rib or not?

Sort of hate to see somebody butcher up a 50s model 14 with a rib. As far as function goes it works fine. I had a friend who shot ppc with one for years, then made it a loaner gun for new shooters, which i was at the time. The only downside is that counting clicks for sight changes between 15...

Is the M 14 a sleeper or a forgotten masterpiece?

14s are great revolvers. I've got three of them, would be happy to buy more. In some ways I like the last of them with the full lugged barrels. Come to think of it, if i count those two I have five. What could be more pleasant than a day at the range with a bunch of wadcutters and a 14...

    work place injury

The blurred vision and headaches are concerning. If you were actually unconcious its pretty lame that they didn't do a head Cat Scan or perhaps and MRI. See your own primary care doctor, he may want to refer you to a neurologist for follow up.

    PC on Model 25

Its not true that there is no fix for that. There may be no cheap fix. I sent my 25-5 back to S&W and had them fit a new cylinder, forget what it cost, this was about a year ago, seems like it was under $200 though. Also had them do their master action job as well.

Looking at a Model 18 K-22, opinions please.

Cost wise it does seem to be at the higher end but in terms of something to have, the Model 18 is one of the absolute best you can get.

    Got my M&P40c today!

The sub compacts are very nice. Mine is a 9c and I'm quite taken with it. You can of course replace the floor plate on the other mag with the pinky thing if you are more comfortable with it. As I understand it they are quite cheap.

    .380 vs 9mm

Doesn't mean they don't have a purpose, just that they aren't as friendly to shoot as a lot of people might think. I think a lot of people who don't think it through are attracted to the small size and slim grip, not knowing that blowback guns flat out kick harder than recoil operated ones. If...

    .380 vs 9mm

Depends on more than caliber, but in terms of caliber 9mm all the way. Most .380s are blowback operated and actually have a rather unpleasant snappy recoil. Most 9mms are of the Browning tilt barrel design and are simply more pleasant to shoot. That matters a lot when dealing with a new shooter.

    1st impression of SSR

FWIW, the SSR I bought was sold as used, but unfired, I got it for $599 which I felt was fair. The wood grips will probably appeal to a lot of people, I find them too slick and too thick at the bottom. I think they succeeded in their goal of being close to PC performance. I think the action...
