I need to replace the two small rear sight elevation springs on my PC S&W 1911, 45 ACP, adjustable sight. S&W will not sell me a set. They insist I send in the entire slide. Seems I should be able to find a replacement set online, but I can not be sure given the descriptions I am finding on...

I am sorry to hear this, as I bought a PC 1911 a month ago and now the same thing is happening to mine. But for now I am off to read up on how people are getting that bushing in and out of the barrel. I know tight is good for bushings, but this is a bit much.

Thanks guys; wish I could try one out first with the combat sights but no shop around here has any new smith and wesson. They say they have ordered them but new smith and wessons don't usually make it to their shop, perhaps because they are small and rural? I don't know how that stuff works...

You bet I have looked at the Performance Center 1911!!! I did look at the 9mm 1911-style Pro Series Smith and Wessons. VERY nice too, but a bunch of old threads on that one seemed to indicate some people had problems, whereas the E series seems to have ironed out any issues from the earlier...

The new E series 45. 1911s look like they come with fixed sights. I am trying to target shoot, so I would not be using the gun for tactical or SD stuff. Are these setup in the factory so that the shooter aligns the front blade in the standard way and then the POI will be the top of the front...

Funny you should mention this. I just bought a box of Geco 38 SPL and when I opened the box one of the bullets had fallen out of the casing and the box had a sprinkling of "powder grains" all over it. So I guess checking for consistency is not such a bad idea.
