I regularly trim 9x19 casings to use in my 9x18 Makarov. The Lee 9x18 Mak reloading dies do a great job transforming the .356 diameter to .365. In fact I loaded up a batch this morning. Lee sells an inexpensive trimmer for this purpose.

Will stretching the recoil spring and then trimming it back to original size make the slide easier to rack or more difficult?

I made a spacer from a .357 wadcutter. I drop it down the throat of my cordless drill and it holds the 9x19 casing with exactly 1mm sticking out of the chuck. While running the drill with the casing sticking out I touch it to my grinding wheel and poof a 9x18 is created. Much more simple that...

I shared the club's pistol range with 2 other shooters today and the shooter nearest me began sweeping up his empties. They were 9mm. I asked him if he reloaded and he said no. I axed him if I could have them & he said 'Sure'. Good score.

You are absolutely right! I am just trying to use up a store credit (the result of an earlier mishap dealing with them). OpticsPlanet says they have free returns, however the returns are only free if you accept store credit, and not a refund. I do want the mold I ordered.
