Business CEO's and business practices in general

Changing the menu I can see would upset some folks. Dropping an item or altering a recipe you might like I can see upsetting other folks. Changing the type or theme of the restaurant I can see upsetting a few more. But the logo - without even changing the name? I've got two words for that...

Business CEO's and business practices in general

This is one of my favorite examples of people who cite Kodak as being short-sighted - which in hindsight I don't think they were. They KNEW the end was coming. Yes, Kodak sold cameras but they never made money on cameras. They made (and sold) a LOT OF film, and processing chemicals, and...

Business CEO's and business practices in general

I tend to agree with the sentiments expressed here, but I think I've been out of the loop on some info. As far as my limited knowledge goes, Cracker Barrel simply wanted to change their logo, and yet people appear to be losing their ever-loving minds over that - and I can't think of a single...

    Afraid of AI?

I'm leery about AI because - like all new things - it is ripe for abuse, and the abusers are always the very first to step up. Will it put people out of jobs? Well, here's a bit of a tale I already experienced with my great-nephew... My great-nephew showed me a picture of him playing...

Concealed Carry Permit. Is This True?

Excellent explanation of Florida's firearms laws from an attorney in St. Pete (whom I have no association with):

Current 3rd Gens in the stable

I've actually trimmed down the number of 3rd Gens I currently own from years past. I'm down to a 4506-1, a 4046TSW, a CS45 and CS45D (both in my daily carry rotation), and my original 4506 with a 4516 top end (essentially making it a 4596). But as the man once said, "I'm always looking..." ;)

Concealed Carry Permit. Is This True?

I want to remind everyone that while permitless concealed carry is legit here in Florida, to do so you still must follow the same rules as if you took the course and test. The requirements don't change just because you decided not to get the physical license. I've run into too many folks down...

Concealed Carry Permit. Is This True?

While Florida does make it fairly easy and straightforward to get your concealed weapon permit, there are still standards for what is considered an acceptable training certificate. Here is the page from the state's website...

    Motor Heads, I need help/advice.

    Lever action assault rifles

I think I prefer the versions by Henry. Their high-end SPD HUSH series with a carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel retails for $2000, and their X Models (which I consider "semi-tactical") sell for under $1200. I just can't get behind a $7-10k price tag...

    Case Pocket Knives

I've got about 20 "Stockman" style pocket knives, two of which are from Case. Love them, and appreciate the fact that they are still made in the USA to very high quality standards. I've got three Buck stockman knives and the modern USA-made one is not as good as either the USA-made version...

Unusual explanation for cause of brush fire

Actually, not that strange. I've seen several animal-related causes of brush fires over the years, but it's usually squirrels who manage to ground themselves when they climb onto a power line instead of jumping onto it. So glad my brush-fire-fighting days are long behind me!

systolic blood pressure and heart rate (beats)

Here are a few thoughts: A blood pressure of 250/110 is dangerous. Period. Your chances of stroke or other serious issues are sky high enough I would cease all physical activity that causes that reading until I could do two things - verify the reading with another cuff (I would strongly...

    Semi-Auto Help

For years just about every gun show I went to had one or more vendors who had either law enforcement or Brinks trade-ins for sale with plenty of .40 caliber options for reasonable prices. Just before the pandemic I picked up a 3rd Generation S&W 4046TSW that was from Brinks for a reasonable...

    Egg Prices...

As a Floridian I can tell you our citrus industry has taken a huge hit these past several years. First off, the land iss more valuable to developers than being used for citrus, then we had severe bouts of citrus greening and citrus canker that the state tried to control by cutting down and...
