Lever action assault rifles

I think I prefer the versions by Henry. Their high-end SPD HUSH series with a carbon fiber wrapped stainless barrel retails for $2000, and their X Models (which I consider "semi-tactical") sell for under $1200. I just can't get behind a $7-10k price tag...

Not my cup of tea, but if that's what someone wants, more power to them. (Though I do think the price is absolutely idiotic!)

On the other hand...
I love lever guns and I enjoy the 'tacticoolness' of the ARs. But the two don't mix. It's like beer and chocolate. Or putting curb feelers and mud flaps on a Corvette. Yuck!!
Sorry, but you are just wrong. Beer and chocolate go together WONDERFULLY! No, not chocolate flavored beer, that would be awful. But a nice piece of dark chocolate washed down by a swallow of beer is a delicious combination!

I have a new Marlin .357 waiting for working space in my gun room. Now that I have my "new" kidney, the dialysis crud will be picked up in a few weeks. It is getting an RDS (old guy eyes); sling, forend that will take a light etc. It will be set up as such like my BCM ARs as possible. The cosmetic sniveling is generally silly; a firearm must be set up to be as functional possible. Anything inconsistent with that is unwise at best, and likely counterproductive.
My most important training experience with rifles is with ARs, both SO in-service and several classes with the late Pat Rogers. I am very comfortable with them. However, they may not be a good travel gun for our RV due to stupid states, so the Marlin will serve that purpose (we are putting a TruckVault in it).
Remember that th primary purpose of a firearm is fighting, and emphasizing cosmetics over function (or even putting them on the same level) is simply not a good practice.

BTW: DO NOT USE THE PHRASE "ASSAULT RIFLE". It is the language our enemies use to demonize us and some of our platforms. If the platform does not meet the definition as given in the US Army FM from, um the mid 60s or so, it is not and cannot be an "Assault Rifle". Words matter.

Therein lies the problem. Never mind the misuse of "assault rifle". It's a ridiculous amount of money for a $1500 rifle.

And it's not a good caliber for tacticool, either. I think it's set up correctly for tactical, lever-action usage, but it should be in .308 Winchester/7.62 x 51 NATO.

Absolutely not for me, but some seem to like to assemblage.
..and that's a good thing. Keep everyone interested in Firearms of all types.

For me it's the classic style lever actions w/ boring open sights and wood stocks.
A 1873 Winchester rifle that was in 38-40 that is now a 44-40 by way of re-boring by the late Ken Bresien is a favorite. Looks tired on the outside but all rebuilt on the inside.
A Win 92 SRC in 44-40 that I re-made into a deluxe pistol grip is also near complete.
That's my kind of stuff.

For the 7k to 10k asking price of the A-Salt Lever Actions shown here, I think I'd probably throw the money towards a useless 6-shooter revolver like a Reg Magnum instead.

Lever action assualt rifle??? Well there are enough fools out there that will buy them and try to be proud of them. Falls in the same catagory as this target pistol........

I've loved lever guns since I was a kid. I currently have six ranging from .22LR to .45-70. I prefer the Winchester style rifles as they feel and handle better for me. I'm particularly fond of the 16" Trapper models in pistol calibers. I have them in .357 Magnum, 44Magnum and .45 Colt calibers. I'm also a traditional blue steel and wood kinda guy.
As for the current "tactical" lever guns, Nope! Not for me.
But when you think about it, isn't the lever action rifle the original assault rifle?

Instead of blue steel and walnut how about brass, blue steel and walnut. It will accept a bayonet and sling but no picatiny. IMG_3561.jpeg
