    A very early Model 645 .45 Auto

I bought the first 645 to show up in our area. I didn't like the trigger, and sent it to Novak's, where they converted it to single action, changed the sights and safety. The result is basically an all-stainless version of the 745. Like everyone says, 100% reliable. I have even run 250gr...

    +p+.38 spl

"NOTE: Only .38s and 9mm ammo are rated as +P according to the SAAMI specs. Any other round that carries a +P designation is a rogue round. So take care. " I have a box of factory loaded .45ACP from Remington marke "+P". I purchased it about 25 years ago.

    Warning-- Dillon Precision!!!!!!

I bought my first 550 around twenty-five years ago. I can't say enough about Dillon's Customer Service and Support. There has never been a charge to replace any part that has worn out or broken (even when I explained that it was MY fault!). Their reputation is better advertising than any ads...

    10mm lead load info

With a 175 or 180gr cast bullet, my favorite 10mm load uses 5.5gr 231 powder. It is a mild load, accurate in my DE and G20, and I have been using the same cases for close to 20 years.

    The 745

I bought the first 645 I saw. I did not like the trigger at all, nor the safety. After reading an article about how Wayne Novak helped develop the 745, I sent my gun to his shop and had them convert it to 745 specs. The result is an all-stainless "745". It's a great pistol, very accurate and...

    Frank Hamer's Triple Lock

The Ranger Museum is definitely a must-see. Another is the J M Davis Museum in Claremore, OK. They have thousands of firearms on display, including guns from J W Hardin and "Pretty Boy" Floyd.

    Model 745 trigger work?

Wayne Novak helped develop the 745. I have a 645 that Novak's shop converted to 745 specs in 1987. I would think they would be the authority on that model, at least a good place to start... Welcome to Novak's

Are N frames from the 50's or 60's better than from the 70's?

My first S&Ws were from the Bangor-Punta era and were great. The ones I bought in the Lear-Siegler (sp?)era of the '80s were disappointing--notably lower quality.

opinions on the winchester 1897 pump shotgun

Great gun. Not much I can add to all of the comments posted, except for one thing...the 97 has a "quick unload" feature that I have not seen on any other shotgun. It is the fastest, easiest and safest repeating shotgun to unload that was ever made. There is a Chinese clone that is being...

Anyone use the middle finger to pull the trigger?

While Jack Ruby did use his middle finger on the trigger when he killed Oswald, he did so out of necessity. Most of his right index finger was bitten off during a street fight when he was younger.

choosing a s&w revolver for a green beret sniper

Just to go way out--how about a model 29? Charles Askins notched the first recorded kill with a .44 magnum in Vietnam back in the 1950s...

New 645! What is this thing?

I bought the first 645 to show up at a local gunshow back around 1986. The gun, as others have mentioned will feed empty cases. I even loaded some .45 Colt semi-wadcutters for bowling pin matches and they fed fine. What I did not like was the skimpy safety lever (or the hammer drop feature)...
