Model 745 trigger work?

Wayne Novak helped develop the 745. I have a 645 that Novak's shop converted to 745 specs in 1987.
I would think they would be the authority on that model, at least a good place to start...
Welcome to Novak's

I never had a 745 that needed a lighter trigger, but a lighter hammer spring and good cleaning might work wonders. There are also pre- and overtravel stops made into the gun.

Thanks,

I have never taken this one apart beyond field stripping.
The trigger breaks cleanly with barely perceptible overtravel, but at about 6.5 pounds. Even mu Glock 30 and M1 rifle have lighter triggers. As this is a target, not a carry gun, I would expect it to be <3 pounds.

My experience in life, is if you don't know what you're doing - don't!

I say you have something going on there, my current gun which does have the lighter hammer spring is a consistant 2.5#. I don't think I've ever had one over 3.5-4.0#. I'd suggest taking it down and remove the grips, give it a good flush with Gunscubber or other aerosol cleaner. The pre-travel screw is straight down from the top, right below the feedramp. The over-travel is in the frame behind the trigger and adjustable with the grips removed. Make sure you lube things back up and see how it does.

Fur sure. Just back from the range. Very accurate considering the trigger pull. But, trigger does not reset most of the time. I needed to nudge it forward with my thumb. Just a little "tick" and it reset. The factory manual doesen't go into any detail on this at all. I will field strip, pull the stocks, and proceed to inspect.

thanks.

Thanks for all the input. Learned more than ever about these guns.

The little trigger play spring looks fine.

As an update, after adjusting the trigger pre-travel screw, it was back to the range. Worked better for about 40 rounds. Then it (trigger) started to make a little "tink" on takeup and the reset problem reared its ugly head again.

So, I have now adjusted the pre-travel so that there's a perceptible "takeup" before release. Not so different from the "two-stage" trigger on my M1. This is not a problem in itself as I'm quite used to this.

However, I would expect that the SA letoff should be crisp and light. My 29-2 SA breaks clean at about 2 pounds. I'd expect this one to be close to that.

I will continue to work on it a bet before calling Novak's.
Can afford a lot of rounds for the cost of shipping a gun in.
