How do you actually enjoy a Magnum caliber revolver?

With the right grips, K-frames are just fine with magnums. Even the snubs. I haven’t run 50 rounds of magnums in a range session in a while, but could do it, no problem. Grips are harder to find for my Security Sixes, so I run Hogues. In a range session of 20 rounds or more, the uncovered...

How do you actually enjoy a Magnum caliber revolver?

Here’s my observations from 50 years with both rounds: With some exceptions, IMO, the big-bore magnums (over .40) are best enjoyed in single actions, not double actions. Exceptions: guys with much bigger hands than me and can handle grips that cover the backstrap. I can do that, but for me...

    On This Day 1978

One other memorable event was crouching in bird poop under a freeway overpass as a tornado passed about 1/4 mile away. Not that harrowing, but I’ve since concluded that the “experts” who say not to get under an overpass are trying to discourage others so there’ll be more room for themselves...

    On This Day 1978

Those who wanted to re-enact crossing the Delaware to attack Trenton would have gone barefoot. Washington’s men left a trail of blood in the snow from their exposed feet. I imagine the dead Hessians were buried without footwear. A lot of the prisoners were likely shoeless as well.

    On This Day 1978

My most memorable weather event: 16 yo and walking out the front door when there was a giant boom and everything turned orange. I went reeling back into the house, thinking the Russians had struck. There was no one else home at the time, and the family all thought I was nuts when I described...

    Revolver grease?

I just started using Lubriplate. I’ll get back to you in a few years with an opinion.

Reduced power hammer springs no good in NEW S&Ws?

^^^^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^^ Also strongly recommend an Apex extended firing pin. TK custom sells one also, but I’ve used both, and the Apex is longer.

    3 inch s&w 65

The last one I saw in my neck of the woods was priced $550, IIRC in pretty good condition. That was a few years ago. I would’ve pounced if I didn’t already have three.

    Winchester 94 front sight replacement

I’m trying to replace the sights on a Model 94 Canadian Centennial. Instead of a ramp, the front sight is dovetailed directly into the octagonal barrel. I assumed it drifted out left-to-right, but had a go at it with a brass punch and no luck, even after multiple hosings of Kroil. I thought...

I'm in Texas for the USGP and I wandered into Cabela's

The C prefix spanned a lot of years, but that SN puts it right at the tail end of the run. 66-67.
