    New Alliant BE-86. Opinions?

I got lucky walking into a retailer and saw two 8 lb kegs sitting on the shelf. Couldn't believe they were still there... everything else was gone (usually put out powders on Weds mornings, people are waiting at the doors on those mornings). I bought the 8lb keg, haven't used any of it yet...

    Range Report - First Handloads

I am using starting loads of 4227 on these. 9gr. Not sure if you need to go any lower. I don't have a chrono, but these are probably going 800-850. Pretty weak and soft shooting.

Ohaus always been made in china?

So they at least used to cast those scales here in the US at one point. Like I said, I love the scale... it does not feel cheap or have any finishing issues. Operates flawlessly. It's also a big possibility that the frame is cast in china, however the rest is still in house. No markings on...

    cost of reloading?

I started reloading 38/357 a couple months ago. I started with a Hornady Single Stage. Since I had a lot of "Free" bullets to begin with, loading was extremely cheap for me... however, as already stated, I now shot AT LEAST twice as much as I used to. Shooting twice as much isn't so bad...

Ohaus always been made in china?

So I got this reloading bug going. Starting to get a lot of equipment, which has offset any savings :o I started to look for a nice balance beam scale. Everyone says get the RCBS 5-0-5 its made in USA and all that... yet every box I have seen of those 5-0-5s are stamped with a "MADE IN...

    Anyone here use IMR 4227

First handloads were with IMR 4227. Very accurate and low heat. I've loaded 38 special with it, leaves lots of powder behind...though very accurate. For 38 special and 357 mag, I found it works best with near max loads. For some reason a full case of the stuff burns better than half case...

    Range Report - First Handloads

Picture is deceiving, it wasn't extremely dirty, but worse than the photo lets on. This load was Lead SWC 158gr, with 9.0gr of IMR4227 and CCI 500 Small Pistol Primers.

    Range Report - First Handloads

Nevada Ed - Unfortunately IMR4227 is all I can find in my parts, so I will have to power through the couple pounds I have. I have been looking for RedDot and W231 actually. Stuff just flies off the shelves :( Krogan - Thanks :) Already looking for more stuff to buy :D Vulcan - Thanks :)...

    Range Report - First Handloads

Iggy - Don't I know it! haha! Makes shooting in the IDPA a little easier and now I can tailor my loads! 27 Man - I have to say, it was quite some anticipation leading up to this morning. I was so happy with the results and that everything did indeed go bang. :) Venom - LOL Good to know...

    Range Report - First Handloads

Thanks! I guess I did notice one thing, that I forgot to mention. Trace amounts of unburned powder. I think from the feedback I got, giving a tighter crimp may help that issue? Sent from my Lumia 1520

    Range Report - First Handloads

Well. I just can't believe the results. I went slow and checked for bullets creeping out and any other oddities. Everything was just perfect. I will only be handloading from here on out! (Rested)First three rounds, SA handloads 158gr SWC 9gr 4227 - Single Action  (Rested)First three...

Newbie reloader, critique first completed rounds

I would like to thank everyone for their feedback! I have learned a lot just by the few posts here already! My next batch, I will be pulling the seating die out just a bit and giving the crimp just a little nudge for something more.
