??? OWB DeSantis or Galco Hoslster for 640 No Dash???

for "off the shelf" holsters both are good and of good quality. So far when I have been sorting through new holsters for new to me guns, or replacing the ultra cheap padded canvas "this'll do for now" holsters I find I usually come home with DeSantis holsters. The price, adjustability (for CCW...

Is a S&W 500 Appropriate at an Indoor Range?

This reminds me of the last time I went to an indoor range. I had my first .44 Magnum, and a newly purchased 45 caliber cap and ball revolver. There were no posted restrictions, and the range officer said both would be fine. I shot the 44 just enough to sight in the scope (about 12 shots...

    Whats mim mean?

I'm gonna jump in with a comparison here. Ruger uses investment cast frames on their DA revolvers as a way to keep machining costs down. To my knowledge their frame strength has never been an issue for that company. IF S&W ever did produce a mim frame I am confident that three things would...

    Too Much Dry Firing?

I will back off my position slightly here. Since S&W says go for it, have at it, but for myself I'll still use snap caps.

    2" to 3" jframe

IMO if barrel length is the only issue, change guns. The fitment of a longer barrel combined with the longer extractor rod, spring, etc would come real close to the price of buying a gun with a longer barrel.

    Can you identify CCI 22LR?

The two mini-mags and the stinger round I figured out, no experience with the rest. Other than the nose shape of the bullet what is the difference between the AR tactical round and the round nose mini-mag? Any benefits to one over the other?

    Best Factory Ammo For a 22lr ?

I have had consistent misfires with exactly one brand of ammo in almost all of my .22's. Avoid the Winchester "Wildcat" loadings. The Winchester X-Pert loads are fine, but foul the gun and accuracy falls off... CCI mini mags work great, but group poorly from all of my .22's. Remington...

    Old Hydrashok .38 Special ammo

a quick google search seems to indicate that the full wad cutters are lost to history.

    Old Hydrashok .38 Special ammo

I have never seen the Hydra-shock wad cutter. Can these be found as reloading component bullets?

    Cylinder stop click question

+1 to alk8944, plus look in the frame around the "window" for dried grease and debris holding the stop down a bit from full engagement.

    Too Much Dry Firing?

This has become a controversial topic in recent years. Here's my personal opinion about dry firing all revolvers. For all center fire revolvers: There is a significant amount of energy stored in the main spring, that is transferred to the hammer when the sear is released. The hammer has a lot...

Help with a 44 Magnum load

If all you are doing is shooting paper, I agree!! If, like me, you use the .44 Magnum like Elmer Keith intended...That is long range hunting and extreme range target shooting a bit more oomph is required. I have taken deer at ranges from 6 feet (yup two long paces) out to 90 long paces, and...

    Who loads full power wc's?

According to my father in law, and some other still surviving LEO's who served locally in the 60's the wad cutters and semi-wad cutters were the preferred loads of the officers. The round nosed 38 Special loadings were the issue ammo due to budget concerns. Even with the switch to .357 Magnum...

    Who loads full power wc's?

The only thing I remember about wadcutters from a 38 special is the old "trick" of using soft hollow base WC loaded nose down or backwards so that the base became a massive hollow point. This from the days when most departments issued round nose low pressure rounds. It's been too long since...
