I got to wondering the other day how many different J frame models S&W has produced? Since I have time right now I started doing some research; reading old magazine articles and such. I'm not finished but here is what I have so far.

That sounds right based on what I remember. I recall the bore was not pitted but the outside is a little rough. The owner offered it to me at $265. Good deal or not so much? Also can it be refinished by S&W or will that kill what value it has?

It was 5 weeks ago when I found this so I am relying a lot on memory and what I could see by enlarging the pic. This I am sure it was not .38 spl. The owner said it was .38 long colt. The markings on the barrel was like 38 S&W cartridge maybe.

Sounds like a good reason to move to me. Here in NC I was in and out in about 30 minutes for mine and that was on a busy day. If you already have a CCW you don't have to do anything but pay LGS.

I found one on a local gun swap page in .32 long for $200. My cousin has one similar to yours and say it shoots great. I don't know anything about .32 long. I have shot a .32 is it the same thing?

I have seen revolvers that look a lot like A S&W with the name INA. What if any is the connection? Is it a knock off or a store brand? I have heard they good shooters.

What do these target grips look like?

Back in the early 90's we lived in a trailer park. One night an intoxicated man tried to break in. I had several rifles and shotguns but no hand guns. The man left before LEO's got there but the next day I went to my LGS and picked up a used S&W 10-5 in nickel, a holster and two boxes of shells...

In my neck of the woods any S&W revolver in decent shape and under $400 is a good deal. Let us know how it turns out.

Thx for the info everyone. Jack I really enjoyed reading your history on the kit gun. I thought it was a J frame; I'm guessing the I frame is a little smaller. I would like to find a 34 4" nickel to go with my 36 4" nickel. All I have seen are quite pricey.
