I have been an itinerant user shooter collector etc of S&Ws for a lot of years. I knew that there were target grips made for the J frame guns..but don't know what they actually came on..regularly that is. I guess they could be special ordered. Anyway I just found a set of target grips in my mess of stuff and was wondering. If it matters they are for a round butt gun.and have dark colored escutchens or whatever they were called on the inside of the grips. Anybody got an answer for a goober??

I don't know the answer to your question because I don't remember seeing any J frames come with target grips.
The J frame target grips I have will fit round or square butt frames.

Agree with both of you - I do not believe targets ever came "stock" on any J frame.
FYI - the J frame targets are good for round and square butt frames.

I was wondering about this as I once had a 34 with target grips..but I didn't buy it new so don't know if they came on it. Unhappily I no longer have a J frame handgun. I almost got a M-36 with adjustable sights at the last gun show..but the fellow just wanted a bit too much for it. It had a 3 inch bbl too

Well now that I found the grips..I gotta find the gun...to go with 'em. What are the worth approx. No don't think I want to sell 'em.

When I see some for sale they are usually between $35 to $50 but I don't see them a lot. A friend bought a real nice smooth set with beautiful grain a while back for $60 or $65.
Those will fit round or square butt.

Round butt targets I believe or bananas. These were on my 36. Sold it to my son but he did not like the grips. (I kept them) I also have a 36 S.B. 3" with targets. Bob

The universal fit Target stocks were made at two different times, in the '70s (black stock washers) and '80s (silver washers). The earlier ones seem to have nicer quality wood.
