whats up with 40 S4W brass

The NT brass has a crimped primer. To remove the remnants of the crimp you will have to get one of those specialty cutters to cut it out or swage it. Most guys who don't load on a Dillon 1050 just pitch it and move on. .40 brass is plentiful and cheap.

Please help me value this Springfield Custom 9x23 1911

No, they weren't lucky to get $1500. Those guns are highly desired in the right circles and will bring that money all day in good condition. To the OP, that gun is probably a more recent build. It has an SVI trigger shoe and interchangeable trigger. SVI started in the mid to late 90's and I'm...

    296 for 357

Dip the case into the powder, hammer a bullet on top. 296 runs best at max...lol! But seriously, I ran into the same thing you are worried about a few years ago and worked up loads. Two guns loved 21.5 grains, another started to get sticky extraction at 20.5.

    Raccoon trapping?

When I was growing up Coon and Possum would get into the horse feed. As my dad would say..."buzzards need to eat too."

What happens when you load too many times

I wouldn't worry about it. 40 brass is everywhere and even if you pay for it, the price is around three and a half cents per piece. So it cost you a half a penny each time you load it. How long is this stuff supposed to last?

I suck with a pistol - UPDATE with pic

Not bad at all for an inexperienced shooter. Stock M&P triggers are nothing to write home about. Apex makes a nice kit. At your house take your unloaded gun and point it at a blank wall, don't aim at anything. Line up you sights with a hard focus on your front sight. Now squeeze the trigger...

Casting ? - Why the cost difference..?

I have a little bit of everything. I wouldn't spend money on a Lee 2 cavity. I also wouldn't spend the money on a Lyman or Saeco that is a common design. Lee 6 cavity molds are hard to beat for price and production. You can run them hot and pump out a lot of good pistol bullets in a short amount...

What volume of shooting warrants progressive press?

I am the type that makes ammo as I need it. I started with a single stage and would reload 50-100 rounds a day during the week so I had enough ammo for practice on Friday and matches on the weekend. I would spend about an hour a day reloading. I was shooting 200-400 rounds a week. I stepped up...

Is it wrong to sell my stuff for an insane offer?

You: "Someone offered me an insane amount of money for one of my ARs and some mags and ammo." Me: "Did you take it?" You: "No, I never shoot the thing and could use the money but I think I should hang to it." Me: "That was the day two fools met." Credit to whoever said it first...

Some outside the box defensive rifle options

Browning BLR. Lever gun speed. Bolt gun power. If that is too much money, find any decent 30-30 lever gun. 30-30 has it all under 100 yards.

New Life for Lee Perfect Powder Measure

I also started with the Lee kit. I still feel that it is an excellent package to get started in reloading. That being said my PPM ran fine with a bunch of different rifle and pistol powders until I tried to run H110 through it. That stuff is like a fine sand and it leaked out everywhere and...

Re Posting this thread. Please do some of the work.

I only want to buy one can of powder. I will be using it for a 500 smith on a bear hunt. I will also need it for 9mm for plinking and possibly for. 223 and 45/70. I only want one powder. It keeps my bench tidy that way.

    Correct Powder For 40 S&W

If you are a first time reloader. I suggest Montana Gold Bullets, great bullet at a good price. I would also stick with Unique, Power Pistol, or WSF to start with. With those powders you can load light target loads all the way up to everything 40 can offer in speed and power. The other advantage...
