    3 or 4" 686?

Same Plan Works for Me This is the same plan I follow except that my carry is a Chief's Special in .38. I don't do much open carry and the 686 presents too many concealment problems for me.

Warning stickers - Yes or No?

My next door neighbor has a "Beware of Attack Neighbor" sign posted on the fence that divides our yards. He put it up as a joke but the rest of da 'hood knows exactly who he is referring to. (The sign is a joke that he bought on vacation last year and that is the only sign in the area.) Any bad...

What made you a S&W fan?

My late grandfather was chief of police in my home town and he carried a 38 Chief's Special which he would unload and let me hold from time to time. I was 6 the first time he did and no firearm of any other make has felt right since then. Later, I would carry a 4" Model 19 as a duty weapon and...

Picked up a used 915 this week...

I think you will be as satisfied with your 915 as I am with mine. The balance is excellent as is the way it fits in my hand. I've mentioned in other posts that the recoil is easy on the arthritic joints in my hand. I've had mine for several years and really enjoy it.

    S&W 915 RECOIL

I shoot my 915 regularly because the recoil is smooth and easy on my arthritic fingers. I can shoot for extended periods of time and not experience any pain. Chas1, I am in my mid-60's and share the same concern about felt recoil. FWIW, it has never been an issue with my stock 915.

    Regrets

"Life's regrets are merely lessons we learn while traveling "the path" and I, like so many others, have many regrets in my life. One of the biggest was the loss through theft of a rifle and other valuables that belonged to my dad. Its a long and complicated story but the short of it is I should...

My Granddaughter asked me this question

Why Do I Carry? I carry a gun because a cop is too big to fit in my holster and too heavy to carry on my belt. :)

    Model 19 value

Saw 2 Model 19's like the ones you describe in, at best, fair condition in the LGS yesterday. $450 each and he would not come off of that price. "I'll sell'em to somebody" was his reply. so, that is what you would pay around here.

    686 3" or 4"

This has been my experience too. I don't use my 686 4" as my daily carry weapon but I enjoy shooting it more than any other gun I have owned for all of the reasons you mentioned. The 4" is a perfect balance of accuracy, weight and recoil for me and it is a pleasure to shoot.

    Model 915 Family Photo

REALLY nice pictures. I bought my 915 a few years ago because it just naturally fit my hand and have enjoyed shooting it ever since. It is my first S&W auto and will go to my older son.

    What's your favorite Smith 9mm.........?

My Favorite Smith 9mm? It would have to be my tried and true 915. It's the best combination of accuracy, size and cost for me and I really enjoy shooting it. My heart belongs to my 686 and I prefer a revolver but my 915 is a joy to shoot. I am currently on a quest for some improved sights for...

    Hello from East TN!

I have not been shooting much in the last few years but I found this forum and it has rekindled my interest. I have my 686-3 and my 915 which are the best of both worlds to me. I also have an interest in WWII rifles but that is for another forum. I am looking forward to hitting the range again...
